The 55 figure was for Calton, but that was 15 years ago. The latest estimates for that area (from 2012) are up to 67, so still significantly below the national average.

Yeah, Scots are so unhealthy. They all die young and they have smelly armpits and bad breath.

Have I done that right?

How apt that a nationalist would jest about social deprivation and people dying before their time.

Must stop the paranoia sir. Wasn't trying anything....... It was Shettleston I am sure that was 55. Can't be arsed looking it up to then be on the receiving end of more buns being thrown at me. More than Happy to be proved wrong however because it really is a shameful stat

When I worked on some NHS projects up in Scotland there was some research that showed the Scots had the worst physical health in western Europe and the Best Mental Health in Western Europe.
So the chant:

is quite apt!

2 years since millions of pounds and hundreds of thousands of man-hours were wasted establishing something that everyone already knew anyway.

You are quoting national average 'burger. Stesco isn't. Your ability to interpret language and statistics is demonstrably lacking.
I'm aware of that. rolleyes

No postcode area in Scotland has had an average life expectancy as low as 55 in the 21st century though.

Well, yes and no. It's generally accepted custom to present an opinion or interpretation of fact, then back this up with some evidence. I've grown not to expect this from you.

Did you notice that you called two people wrong on this page who then provided evidence to the contrary? hehe
Thanks for your input, simoid. Condescending as ever.

Completely agree that the average life expectancies and the general health of Scots is shameful. The odd thing is, I don't think Shettleston is the worst place in Scotland. Many, many worse places in my view.

Ask questions, study the answer.

On the last big test for mental health, it turns out that 45% were actually mental. biggrin

Rather disingenuous of you. The statistics are almost always calculated for electoral wards, not postcodes, but then you are well aware of that.

Calton ward quoted as 53.9 yrs for males as late as 2006

To be fair.... for a couple of years... he was backing the cause.
Then went into the voting booth... and voted to stay...

I think his head and heart are at odds over this.
