As for the fracking - the SNP have put a moratorium in place while the science is studied.
Are you really gullible enough to believe that rubbish?
Fracking has been going on for years, I did my first frack in 1990 and it had been going on long before then. The science is fully understood, fracking has already been happening both on and offshore in Scotland and oil and gas from fracked wells has been flowing through Scottish refineries for many years.
The SNP opposition to fracking is a load of bullst designed to appeal to the hard of thinking, especially when you consider that they go on about Scotland being a major oil producing economy.
also don't forget that in 2013 the grangemouth plant was threatened with closure. one of the only ways to secure the future of the plant was change the T&C's of the employees and look for an alternative (cheaper) source of fuel than the north sea.

its funny that over the next year after this, there were many discussions (and visits) with Scottish government, which resulted in the government going as guarantor on a £300mil loan to finance the new shale gas project on site and redevelopment of existing plant to secure the business at grangemouth for at least 25 years......

oh and then there's the other little matter of ineos buying the majority of licenses to carry out fracking across Scotland and north of England, to give them a cheaper fuel source than shipping gas from America......

I wonder what sort or promises/ guarantees were given to ineos for them to make that sort of commitment to Scotland? I wonder if it was along the lines of- within the next 5years you can batter in and frack the hell out of central Scotland, people will have forgotten about it by then.....

According to this http://www.nationaldebtclock.co.uk/

we are now over £1,756,000,000,000 on the national debt.
Popping that into Excel (because my calculator isn't good at big sums like that) and dividing by 63,000,000 people I get £27,778 for each of us. Now, in my book of "Big Sums For Dummies" I read that it would be better for me to owe £10k than it is to owe £27k. Or did I get that wrong?

But wait... the same website says "Mainstream media headlines today are focused on Britain's record national debt, which just surpassed £1 trillion, a figure that can only exponentially increase unless the entire mechanism of Government finance is overhauled. The truth however is much worse, factoring in all liabilities including state and public sector pensions, the real national debt is closer to £4.8 trillion, some £78,000 for every person in the UK."

Gulp - it looks like I'm going to need a bigger spreadsheet.

Nope, according to this https://www.nao.org.uk/highlights/whole-of-governm...

I'm going to need a bigger computer to compare UK spending to revenue.
Typical, over-simplistic Nat rant.. hehe

Just to confirm, you understand the difference between debt and deficit?

So rather than moaning, what is the solution? Cut government spending more to reduce debt level rise? Oh wait, you're probably anti-austerity and think we should spend more..? Or magic money tree moment?

Blimey, Westminster has done such a great job, I think I'll send them all my wages every month and see how much they can turn it into for me.
How are the SNP's finances doing?

And have the devolved powers been put into use yet to give you guys your land of milk and honey you so deserve? (Have they ever been put into use?).

How much of the (well over a) trillion of national debt do you think went on Irn Bru?

Thing is, I suspect it won't. The SNP shine is beginning to tarnish, and they have recently lost a string of by-elections in council wards. When it comes down to local issues the SNP have a reputation for being totally ineffective, mainly because all their new recruits thought that being elected the first time round was the battle over and that they could use the same excuses as the national party for sitting on their hands while communities suffer.

It stretches credibility a bit to blame London MPs when a local childcare facility is shut down due to a lack of funds caused by 9 years of council tax freezes.

Council tax has been frozen for years but lots of people seem to forget that it is US that have to pay it - it doesn't come from magic beans or anything else.

During the years before Hoyrood, and then the LibLab years in charge the Poll Tax or Council Tax increased beyond all recognition or resemblance to earnings. 73% in 9 years for me in P&K.

The SNP come in and freeze it which was a good thing for ordinary CT payers and it may now be time to allow some increases, but while councils can fritter away as much as they do, I'm shedding no tears for them.

These are my real, actual figures. I haven't updated it and water charges continue to have small increases each year. Maybe someone wouldlike to overlay the corresponding inflation figures for comparison, and if they are available, what about figures for average wage inflation too?

The council tax freeze is a massive boon for those in massive houses, as they save the most money. The lowest earners save very little money and get fked by the rusty SNP spike as it's their services that get slashed. Council tax freeze is taking from poor to give the rich tax cuts in real terms.

Inflation 1-2% generally with a couple of medium sized spikes around the crash times.

Just heard some edited highlights of the most recent FMQs. (Would have watched more but extended exposure to Scottish politicians makes me want to slit my wrists.)

I find the way that Nicola responds to reasonable questions to be disgraceful. She answered at least two questions with "How dare you lecture me on this subject..." or words to that effect - essentially, "Shut up and don't question my authority!" Her "answers" were peppered with petty, juvenile gibes at almost every other UK political figure, and once she resorted to shouting "Labour are a shambles!" I don't dispute the truth of that statement, but it smacks of disrespect and a lack of professionalism in the extreme - I can't imagine ANY Westminster leader behaving in such a disrespectful manner.

Like most of her supporters, she also seems to suffer from a sense of humour bypass - she could find humour useful when dealing with Murdo Fraser's questions...

She seems to be struggling with the idea that she no longer has carte blanche.

Well when all you hear is give us more powers - given. Given and never used oddly...
Then oh we want Indy red 2 etc when we feel like it.
Then oh we could stay in the EU and the Uk..

Guess what it's called crying wolf and also not letting the tail wage the dog. So now the red line is drawn if you want to do it then go ahead /calling your bluff.

SNP are now firmly between a rock and a hard place. They frankly must push on with Indy 2 else they are finished.

They'll be wanting to adopt a scorched earth policy now, and vote against everything, no matter what.

No real changes there, but the next big vote in Westminster will be to 'adopt' all current EU legislation - which is what the SNP have been saying they want since the 23rd June.

I wonder what pathetic excuse they'll give for voting against that.

This will be interesting you could have a staunchly remain MP. It from the vote results their constituency was pro exit so MP would have to adhere to the settled will.

Interesting.

Dog whistle ste. The people who read this will have no idea what Theresa May actually said, and look to Sturgeon to tell them what to believe and think.
