I wonder if they'll get rid of the c. 60% marginal tax rates for people earning £43k or whatever it was.
It's 62% and it's £100-122k range
Nah, this one:

"Furthermore the SNP is deeply disingenuous when it asserts that it is simply not passing on a “tax cut” as every Scottish tax payer in 2017-18 will endure an increased tax burden on their earnings between £43,387 and £45,000 per annum due to increases in National Insurance. Indeed the marginal tax rate in Scotland will be increased to 52 per cent in this band. Whilst this might seem a narrow anomaly today by 2020 this 52 per cent marginal rate will cover about £4,000 of income between £46,000 and £50,000. The tax changes in George Osborne’s recent Budget were a package, so on the one hand the threshold for higher rate tax rose but on the other so did the ceiling at which 12 per cent National Insurance continues to be paid. In net terms English tax payers enjoy a 10 per cent fall in their overall marginal tax rate whereas the Scots suffer a 10 per cent increase."

That's the Edinburgh Gateway interchange (which we've discussed here several times) open on time and to budget.
I am sure that's great for you if you travel through that part of Edinburgh, but would you care to comment on the state of education in this country and how it seems to have got far worse under the party that is supposed to be "Stronger for Scotland"?

I would also assume that the fact that project is on time and on budget would be far more to do with the contractors and how they priced the job and little or nothing to do with the Scottish Government.

Owned by Network Rail (UK?) and Edinburgh Trams (cooncil?) managed by the Dutch mob though so presumably some Scottish Government input.

Time to move over the border (as in SOUTH), leave the sinking ship.

All we get in response to real world problems and SNP-led disasters (education, Police Scotland, Fire Service) is more fking squirrels and pish about a railway station opening on time.

What hope have youngsters honestly got these days? Get a pish education in school, then to make up for that, the SNP want to make the exam markings less harsh so more people get the grades they need. But then they can't get into Uni as all the places are filled by students from outside Scotland, especially if its at Clearing time.

Shame they've forgotten that as a nation we need bright young folk to become hard-working, decently paid older folk to support the taxation required for the state pensions...

What an utter clusterfk of epic proportions.

For years, it's been the joke that people leave the country as they've failed to make a success of their life.

I wonder if we could enter an age where Scots move their life to the antipodes and North America as we've failed to make a success of our country scratchchin

I'm already making plans. My wife and I were looking to move in the next year or two but we have decided it will be to the south of the border and not to a rural property on the central belt as we had decided. One thing it has shown us though is how inflated property prices are in Scotland, I can get a better property for less money in a lovely location in Yorkshire or near the lakes than I will pay to live in a nice house 3 miles from a dog rough council scheme here in the central belt.

She can work from anywhere although England would actually suit the majority of her client base better and my factory is getting older and more expensive to run so I've stopped looking at other industrial locations in the area and I'm now looking at ones to the south.

I'm not going to pay more for less for my children and myself as the SNP are going to ask me to do, so I'll take the steps I need to. Watching that witless clown Swinney get his arse handed to him on Sunday morning television on the subject of Education yesterday cemented the fact that this lot simply don't have a clue , and are now at the stage of admitting they are making it up as they go along. They are actually of the opinion now that they are so strong in their power base they can admit they are amateur hour.

If the great unwashed want this faux socialist inward looking hate driven idea of utopia then let them have it. I'll not be here.

I don't want this version of Scotland for mine or my families future.

That's OK, she's far too busy now considering expanding her reach beyond Scotland.

Of course she probably hasn't considered that people in England may have alternative reasons for voting SNP...

Erm? Then what, continue to campaign for them to be separated? She seems to also be placing a lot of prominence on Westminster recently.

Nice to see how the diversity has enriched the area. I'd hate to think what it'd be like without it.

Still, all good SNP voters eh Nikki doll? You stole that right out of the labour/working class playbook.

To be fair there aren't many Scots left in her constituency...

I live about four streets over from that stehole. Fortunately it's another world, although sadly I still have her as my 'representative'.

  • Councils fked
  • Some meaningless tax cut/gimmick to keep dafties happy
  • something else becoming free to assist middle classes and keep them voting SNP - perhaps legislation to set a limit on the cost of flying golf clubs or skis

SNP MP Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh is being pursued by the taxman in a case which could see her suspended from parliament, PoliticsHome has learned.

Someone on this thread a while back did predict that Tasmina would be the next SNP MP to face charges of financial impropriety - well they may just have been correct.

Thank you. It's not going to be easy but we've decided that we don't want this. One of the benefits of my time in the military was getting to meet and make friends with people from all over the UK, and I compare that experience and the general good natures of those people with the open hostility from the SNP core support to anyone English. It's an embarrassment.

As far as I'm concerned I'm British, I just happen to have been born in Scotland is all.
