Maybe they realise it isn't terribly efficient or sensible for a bunch of people to sit in a ton of metal on their own, surrounded by thousands of other people doing the same thing twice a day, for a distance that they could cycle in less than an hour if they weren't so lazy?
Not everyone can cycle. You be grateful for your health. Me, I need a car.
It's not health in my case, but I'm pretty much flat out all day and my little time in the car is the only peaceful/non exerting thing I do all day. Replace that with cycling and I'd be a wreck, mentally and physically. You may call it laziness, w_w, I call it doing as I please.

Thank you however it doesn't say "by cars" now does it. Could some be by cyclists?

He's already handed himself in, I think he'd be well advised to do some public grovelling/apologising, he's got a very distinctive face which has now been all over the papers

Also (and I will probably be flamed for this), why let your child run out of the gate like that? You never know what is heading down the pavement.

Not condoning what has happened at all. However, the kid could have run into the road too.
There should be nothing heading down the pavement at speed, and she was following directly after her mother who was opening the car for her!
Unfortunately, this incident has proven that things like this can happen. You have to be vigilant everywhere now.

To prod each other when they act stupidly?
Nope, to electricute the morons that under take, weave in and out, ignore traffic lights, ignore junctions, ignore crossing, cycling on the pavement, ignore cycle lanes, ignore the rules of the highway and yet gob off when they get clipped by a car but refuse to stop or even acknowledge the fact when they hit mine. Utter plebs.

In my experience all of the above is an almost daily occurance and I am sick of them bleating on about how unfair it is and how the world is against them. I wont call it stupidity as i refuse to accept the fact that so many can survive being that dim. I see it as a deliberate act and they should be punished for it.
You could apply most of the acts of idiocy above to vehicle drivers. I see far more idiots behind the wheel on a daily basis than I do pedalling a bicycle.

Most? I'd say all. Never had a car driver hit my car and drive off, but I know people it's happened to, however I've seen all the others done by cars.

Its pointless arguing with him, I've seen him pop up in loads of anti cycling threads. The fact is he chooses to ignore poor car drivers and concentrates on the few poor cyclists he sees. He is blinkered.

Actually I take it back, you've not posted loads in anti cycling threads. You're clearly anti cycling tho, and blinkered to poor drivers.

Of course not and I'm not stupid enough to think that but I wouldn't say that people who have to drive are a majority of most commutes would you?

I'm not saying you have to at all, I am a fair weather cyclist at best. I was merely responding to the moans upthread about "fking things up for the motorists who pay for it all" as if it was a bad thing that accommodations are being made for road users who aren't in cars.
