Me too. One country one vote means the largesse he has handed to his sycophants (and probably worse), equals plenty of votes from those with their snouts in the FIFA trough.

Blatter unfortunately likely to be re-elected, however I can't imagine the FBI would have started this if they didn't have enough to do the job properly and oust him.

Entertaining but slightly alarming thoughts from John McCain - "Barack Obama created FIFA" laugh

Yesterday in parliament. Sometimes MPs can get right to the nub of a problem and how it affects individuals. From yesterday in parliament:

Phillip Hollobone, Conservative MP for Kettering, said 'This is a dark day for Kettering Town football club.'

So really, this is just to make the rest of the world call it soccer?
The word 'soccer' started in England smile
An abbreviation of "association" as in "Football Association".
Correct - "soccer" and "rugger"

Interesting articl concerning FIFA's sponsors

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/fifa/116...

Seems like they have recently lost some major sponsors , Sony, Emirates, will be interesting to see what happens if Blatter is relected.

Wouldn't have thought international football was a major concern for KTFC.

My rugby club is still called FC. This irritates the RFU officials but we're sticking with it, probably mainly for that reason.

I think we're RFC?

Anyway is Blatter out yet or no?

In fairness criticising the Prince of Jordan for not coming from a bastion of transparency, then referring to Putin as some sort of credible source is a bit rich. You'll be bringing Kim Jong Un into it as a second source next...

I agree though the timing is pretty 'convenient' to say the least. Could be just as simple as waiting until everyone was altogether in the hotel though, for the conference like.
suuure as this is the first time they've been together in these 17 years...

I think he will. Not that i want him to...
He'll be back in with a landslide victory, no doubt about it. It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens going forward though.

Is Kettering the root of the corruption?

I am not going to claim this as original thought but I loved the simple dilemma that Blatter is judged to now be in - and thank you for the above structure and summary smile

Blatter is either innocent of the slurs and alleged crimes he has committed over 17+ years and therefore is NOT GUILTY of being a wrong 'un.

Blatter may well be inextricably entwined and linked to the corruption and if this is the case, then he is going to hell in a hand cart! Supermax prison with Bubba as someone said above.

So - he must be wishing that he gets off - only problem is that looking at the structure of FIFA and effectively their controlling structure/committee, if he gets off and is found not guilty of all charges etc, then he is guilty of something - Utter Gross Incompetence at running such an organisation.... so he has to go?

Let's just hope that nobody thinks up another outcome shall we??? smile

Every single African nation, of which I believe there are 54, will vote for him.

Don't forget the people voting are all recipients of one form of largesse or the other. The organisation is corrupt from top to bottom, but especially at the top.

Let's see if UEFA have the guts to walk away and take their funding with them....

The problem I have is that whilst I think FIFA are a bunch of corrupt toss pots, I can't see the sponsors actually walking away unless UEFA or other governing bodies walk away and form a new association. And I wouldn't stop eating at McDonald's, drinking Coke or wearing Adidas if the brands continued to be associated with FIFA, which they will due to the global exposure they get.
