In a few days, all this will probably be forgotten & greasing palms will continue - he enjoys a lot of support from certain parts of the world.
From understanding what is going on via the politics show and that, once the birds start 'singing' in the US courts, that might not be the case. Petrus1983 said:
Blatter wins - not surprised by that but how can the opposition withdraw at this stage!!?
Only 2 contenders. One got almost twice the number of votes at the other. It isn't as is 40 people are going to immediately change their vote.
The recount would give an identical result.
Now - if there were 3+ people running - the second count makes a lot more sense.
These sporting bodies work in mysterious ways. If it had been politics or business the head of the organisation would have taken the blame for all the wrong doings under their watch and resigned. The Japanese take this to extremes. But here the person in charge loves his job so much he has no compunction to do that, as long as the nice job continues for him with all the perks.
This is what happened with Max Mosley and the FIA. The FIA has a rule that you are not allowed to bring the sport into disrepute. Countless people have been hammered by this catch-all guardian rule.
So what happens when the head of the FIA gets spanked by hookers, does Nazi style clothing and has his anus shaved? That's not bringing the sport into disrepute and he got voted back into power
The people voting are hoping it dies down and they can get back at the trough.

No mystery about this one. We all know what's been going on.This is what happened with Max Mosley and the FIA. The FIA has a rule that you are not allowed to bring the sport into disrepute. Countless people have been hammered by this catch-all guardian rule.

I sincerely hope that the FBI or whoever, pushes on their investigation and we finally see the biggest crook of them all inside

Blatter back
Serious decisions need to be made, by those in a position to make them.
Blatant corruption cannot be seen to endure.
UEFA need to walk, for a start.
They do, but they won't. Nor will the sponsors. Our only hope to bring down this appalling individual and his festering, corrupt and self-serving organisation are the US Justice Department and the FBI. Everyone else talks a good game but will do fk all. Serious decisions need to be made, by those in a position to make them.

Apologies for butchering your contribution, but I disagree. The 'Blatter' incident may be indicative of a certain malaise which may have ramifications beyond that of FIFA.Gandahar said:

Aye - and extracting piggy from trough may be the primary concern - speaking generallyCheese Mechanic said:

Watching brillopad hairpiece on the Politics show today, they mentioned some body within UEFA (UEFA itself being impotent) the bit that has Man U and other expensive teams, that if they act, it would be a massive issue for FIFA.Serious decisions need to be made, by those in a position to make them.

UEFA should immediately issue a unilateral declaration of independence and leave FIFA. The USA would do likewise as would Australia, New Zealand and many others. FIFA cannot put on a "World Cup" without the European nations and it would collapse. Brazil, Argentina etc.. would probably follow as soon as they saw there would be no world cup. Blatter may be supported by a lot of banana republics but they don't bring in the huge amounts of income.
Will UEFA have the balls to do this? fk no!
