I'm sure that Blatters defence will either be.

a.) "Its funny now that football is finally becoming very popular in America, its the FBI that are flinging these baseless allegations against FIFA. The Americans and their TV networks are trying to seize control of the game!"

b.) "Given the areas from which most of the accused officials come from.....
ITS WACISSSISM!!!"

Either way I would imagine Mr Blatter is currently on his way to his friends in Qatar on a private jet as we speak. I would be very surprised if he is still in Switzerland.
With a video of Sepp Blatter laying on his bed in tears screaming "why can't people just leave football alone!"

Did they not have him bang to rights for something a while ago? Cannot recall anything happening because of it though.

He was suspended by FIFA along with the guy that was standing against Blatter at the last FIFA elections. This was a couple of days before the election. Warner resigned from his FIFA and football positions. FIFA dropped the investigation into him as he was no longer involved in football.

The other guy got a life ban, which he got overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, FIFA then found him guilty of something else and he got another life ban.

This is beautiful. Hopefully the FBI throw the book at them. judge
Past precedent says they almost certainly will, it's like the opposite of the UK over there, the higher the profile of the criminal the greater the odds of them locking you up and tossing the key away if found guilty (as opposed to here, where being famous is a get out of jail free card for the most part).

The Russian sports minister says that Russia has nothing to hide when they successfully bid for the 2018 World Cup...

...that'll be because they've already hidden it.

In the present climate, I can't see the FBI being too concerned about ruffling Russian feathers

yikes

Lynch: "All told, these defendants [who have pleaded guilty] have agreed to forfeit $150million in ill-gotten gains. All arrested defendants abused the US system and broke US law, we intend to hold them accountable."

Loretta Lynch, Attorney General: "Bidding for 2010 World Cup - which was eventually awarded to South Africa - began in 2004. Even for this historic event, FIFA executives and others were involved in corrupt (dealings).

"This also extended to the 2011 Fifa presidential election."

Lol, good luck Step Ladder, I hope this odious finally gets the book thrown at him. He's taken the piss out of hundreds of millions of football fans for years and, IMHO, they pushed it too far with Russia and Qatar "winning" the World Cup.

As a side note, that Zurich gaff they were staying in charges £3k a night for the sort of suites they would be booking. Even if it were only for one night, £12,000 (plus drinks and meals) would have bought a lot of equipment for the development of football, their much vaunted objective. Multiply that by all the other junkets this lot of leeches enjoys right through the year and it's no wonder the internal doings of FIFA are so shrouded in secrecy.

He's either complicit in these dealings or ignorant of them, either way he must go, he simply cannot have it both ways.

In Russia, football plays you.

Or words to that effect.

FBI Director Comey has said football, the beautiful game, has been "hijacked by corruption".

The more I think about this the worse it is. We all new exactly what was going on for years.

Why were we in a position where we were unable to do anything about it. Why do we have to rely on America to sort it (and I'm very thankful it looks like they have)

One would think he could not but he has up until now.

Whilst we all say how corrupt it is, and the facts are out there for all to see, one must ask how much guilt should be leveled at national footballing groups for remaining in FIFA. It is just an organisation. There is nothing to stop national groups from forming another one. If a new rule book which included transparency was written and any team could sign up, then I'm sure there would be a number of countries taking out their pens.

Unless, of course, the money they get from the World Cup is too much of a draw.

It is prostitution: they go for the money.
