I'll calling BS on this now, it's all getting out of hand and too unbelievable.

Apparently the latest is that Blatter had an affair with Ronaldo's ex, Irina Shayk (google her).

So FAI would have been negatively impacted had they qualified for the 2014 World Cup - talk about conflict of interest taking that loan!

5 million as a "setlement" for a handball. Not a bad result to be honest. They could well have come away with nothing. How likely was that whole match to be replayed if the court case went ahead?

France was always going to qualify over Ireland, the new rule introduced before that draw took place to ensure France faced a lesser team made sure of that.

Knock on the door.
Some roughneck with a fag end in his mouth "We've got some black top left over. I can do your drive now for £250.”
You "No thanks."
Roughneck "OK, how's £150 sound?"
You "No not interested."
Roughneck "How's £5 mill grab you."
You "Deal."

Here's what our friends across the water have been up to.

The German newspaper Die Zelt reports that German soccer authorities secured Saudi Arabia's vote in the extremely tight election for the 2006 World Cup by arranging for an arms shipment.
In exchange for Saudi Arabia's backing of Germany, the German government — then led by Chancellor Gerhard Schroder — supplied rocket-propelled grenades to the Saudis.
Germany won the vote, taken in 2000, by 12-11 over South Africa.

Also aiding the German cause before FIFA's executive committee, according to the report: commitments for greater investments in Thailand and South Korea by German corporations Volkswagen, Bayer and Daimler

So that's R8s as tainted as the prancing horse for getting Rubens to let Schumi past at Austria in 2002.

It will be interesting to see how much some sponsors were also involved, either directly or indirectly.
