Your choice of the word 'leering' is pejorative. Giving your fellow man a quick visual once-over is normal human nature, particularly when the they appear in some ghastly luridly-coloured skintight trousersuit.

Your kins' choice of garment makes you all fit to be mocked alongside Walmartians and onesie-wearing chavs. That you're so utterly un-selfaware of the ridiculous image you project only adds to the deliciousness of your pique.

Complete bks. Having moved home, last year , I now have little angst with cyclists. However, prior to that , living just off the A15, I had plenty. *Always* it was lycra man. Riding 2 abreast on a narrow busy "A" road, riding in bunches, huge traffic tailbacks , never pulling over , (as the farm boys invariably did) , basically being complete s.

The average bod, used the cycle path adjacent the road. No prob at all. So yes, Lycra is entirely viable, its those wearers who appear the main problem.

Thankfully, I appear to have moved to an area with more considerate pushbikerists/lycra men, I hope so.

Rules 168 and 169 apply to motor vehicles. What behaviour are you advocating?

Where does it say that those are for motor vehicles?


But as you ask about cycle specific section 67 be aware of traffic coming up behind you
66 never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends

be considerate of other road users,

I should imagine if its a corner with poor visibility on a national speed limit B road out in the sticks they will end up angry and flattened somewhat or worse dead
Still if the car crept up to the corner at 15mph it might not happen

I should imagine if its (sic) a corner with poor visibility on a national speed limit B road out in the sticks the competent driver will be asking himself if there's a tractor just out of sight. Otherwise they may end up angry and flattened somewhat or worse dead.

Something about always being able to stop safely in the distance you can see to be clear?

How about just plain everyone's responsibility?

I fully agree ironing man but oh err in the real world it ain't ever going to happen,
Right or wrong people are just to busy to give a flying fook and so unfortunately posts about cyclists vs cars will go on and on and ariston, I cycle to work luckily I ride through the woods, though a feckin cattle grid jumped up and knocked me off the other week, the ruddy cow watching nearby was laughing at me I did ask her what was her beef !

What makes you think that? Those rules come under the heading "Using the road". The highway code does not state the rules in that section apply solely to motor vehicles.

In fact - in the "Rules for cyclists" section it specifically states the following:

"These rules are in addition to those in the following sections, which apply to all vehicles"

I'd say rules 168 and 169 would apply - in addition to aspects of rules 66 and 67.

you can't even drive down a road with speed bumps slowly in a car ,without somebody behind in a car going bezerc
Throthing at the mouth because you dare slow down for them, so what chance do you have of rectifying people's behaviour towards a push bike ? As I've stated above whatever your opinion is or how you twist others opinions
Nothing is going to change anytime soon best to let the idiots be idiots and take themselves out of the gene pool

Riding two abreast invariably irks those who expect to be able to squeeze past, regardless of whether or not there's traffic coming the other way. Equally, though, a short bunch can be a good deal easier to pass than a long line.

Personally I tend to avoid cycling on busy roads - no fun and not necessary.
