The cannabis arguments are more relevant than arguing the police should turn into executioners...
The killers of Lee Rigby received a quick armed response unit who used deadly force, but just didn't result in fatalities.
I disagree, it's less relevant. The killers of Lee Rigby received a quick armed response unit who used deadly force, but just didn't result in fatalities.
On subject, the special unit should have shot to kill.

They never shoot to kill, they shoot to stop.
And then, in the Rigby case, do all they can at the scene to stop the criminals dying before the paramedics arrive. This being a civilised country and all that.La Liga said:
The cannabis argument has links to mental health and the possible cause / effect of the matter.
If there is an issue with violence caused by the effects of cannabis, we could get onto it once we've sorted the somewhat larger problem of alcohol related violence. No point going all "reefer madness" on it when we happily tolerate something far more frequently destructive.I think it's more the mental health rather than the violence (although that can lead to violence). As you point out, alcohol has a much larger problem with violence. I think half of all violence is alcohol-related, and it makes up the largest proportion of our prison population.
Legalise it and tax it IMO.

brilliant deduction work there sherlock, got it all sussed out it seems.(Nicholas Salvador was a heavy cannabis smoker for many years)
One small thing you could do to humour me though if it's not too much trouble, enlighten me with me your working of how you account for the natural tenancy of anyone who's head is in a really not right place to begin with to veer right towards any substance that will get them utterly spastiblocked out of said head.

I can't believe somebody actually typed this.
Why, not worth investigating? So the guy APPARENTLY smoked weed. Do you know how much? How often? What type? Do you know if he was on anything else? Do you know if had any mental issues BEFORE he started smoking weed?
How is it that these kind of things are carried out every day, all over the world, by all sorts of different people, yet when it's discovered that the person in question smoked weed/was on antidepressants/<insertotherdrugnamehere>, people like you always assume that it must have been THAT that was the sole cause?
Do you have ANYTHING; scientific studies, newspaper articles, hell, even a friend of a friend-type story, that can factually link cannabis use to mindless violence or are you just trotting out the same old crap spouted by the "OMG, it MUST be the drugzz" crowd?
Here's something for you to consider, and although it's a cliché it's a very pertinent one: go to any A+E dept over a weekend and see for yourself how many casualties are caused by weed as opposed to any other kind of drug, and although I accept you're trying to blame mental issues on weed rather than the kind of physical problems associated with alcohol, I 100% guarantee that alcohol is BY FAR the bigger problem than cannabis and not just for A+E departments but for society in general.

Weed arguments are really not relevant.
What is relevant is that the Police should have been able to shoot him sometime during his 20 minute or so violent rampage. One well aimed bullet. Problem solved.
Mental issues or not, the world would be a better place without him in it.
The UK definitely does not need or want state-sanctioned death squads. What is relevant is that the Police should have been able to shoot him sometime during his 20 minute or so violent rampage. One well aimed bullet. Problem solved.

- Plus for the killers of Lee Rigby as well. A quick response armed unit, with use of deadly force, and then a quick inquest. No need for another two unwanted burdens on the tax payer of court appeals, and nice comfy prison costs.
Relevant username, by the way.
