I suppose it depends how you look at it.

I take the view that it took that one person to expose a hole in the existing security arrangements, and since then steps have been taken to reduce the likelihood of it happening again.

Better than them all standing back and doing nothing, surely?

He did say it in 2013 but it's just as relevant today - in fact probably more so given he is running for President.

There is hope for mankind yet.

Another country has decide that two people who love each other can marry.
but why not more? If there is a consent why is a man not allowed to marry 50 women or vice versa?

Indeed, why is there no legal mechanism for any group of consenting adults, of whatsoever gender, to declare themselves a family? Or in other words WTF does anyone's economic and emotional situation have to do with the state?

Removing the state from marriage would be a better way of getting marriage equality, but this is a step in the right direction.

America takes a welcome step towards freedom on the same day that two British gays decide that the Catholic church should be forced to marry them against their will. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2383686/Mi...

Following the same logic, when the Westboro Baptist Church decide they want some "God hates Fag" signs they can sue the couple for refusing to print them.

The right are having a bad week over here. Obamacare yesterday and this today. I listened to a bit of Rush Limbaugh at lunch time. I think the bigoted old is on the edge of a complete nervous breakdown. hehe

I'm listening to this now, he's saying that he wants to call himself an Obama because he would get more recognition and money, I assume I've completely missed his point because he isn't making any sense at all. wobble

Having said that Barack Obama has also lost this one on both states rights and gay marriage. biggrin

At least this allows me to see which people on my Facebook are fking morons now they've all changed their profile photos to rainbows and keep posting crap like "i support gay marriage, or as i call it 'marriage'"

They were never this vocal for Gay Pride in previous years or when it was legalised in the UK last year.

Surely Gay Marriage/Partnership isn't a Left/Right issue at all? Just a matter of deciding that you, collectively as a society, aren't going to negatively discriminate against people based on sexual orientation/preferences.

Our UK "right-leaning" politicians are pretty much all pro-Gay-rights. Same as the "left-leaning" ones.

True, the USA is different. But on this?

For right here in the good ole US of A you can read "Christian right". The issues that matter most to the right are abortion, immigration, suppression of gays and blacks and the repeal and abolition of anything that black commie Obama achieved during his presidency.

A "right leaning" UK politician is a social liberal with pinko tendencies over here.

Ah, here is one of our resident gay-haters. What possible logic is there in your absurd question, AreOut?

Anywhere that calling someone "liberal" is seen as an insult is pretty fked-up politically in my opinion.

What Americans call "liberal" isn't actually very liberal at all.

so if you support rights of polygamous people you are automatically gay-hater? How do you even connect these...

Who connected them? You did, as an absurd attempt to pretend equivalence between gay marriage and polygamous marriage.
