No view either way. Just a point. I was in Mexico watching CNN when the news broke that Trump was standing and I listened and chuckled. Others watching said how racist to say Mexican rapists would be flowing across the borders.

However, when listening you do (I did as well) think he says ...they're bringing crime, their rapists... - he actually says 'they're' rapists (ie meaning pillagers, spoilers, those that favour wanton destruction).
VERY different context to bringing 'their' rapists across the border.

Well, Trump inherited a huge property empire from his father and subsequently went bust a couple of times... Cruz is only half hispanic and as a Canadian born person is less of an American than the current president whose legitimacy he sought to question.

Native Americans were not white or Christian and if the demographic continues to change that's just fine. This country has always been a melting pot and was built on immigration. It's not the sole domain of straight white Christians, whatever Mike Huckabee may think.
The Middle east and south america is what happens when all the white christians have been hounded out. Nice thriving communitie.....wait a minute...

Anyway, back to Mr Ridiculous.......

It's tempting to say that Trump has made a mockery of the GOP and their quest for a 2016 nominee. But in fairness they were already a joke before he interjected himself.

As for immigration, he's totally wrong. We need immigrants and the people who come from the south are generally hard working and aspirational. The problem is the system, which is broken and which criminalizes them before they even get here. I came to America through the immigration system and even as a white, middle class European marrying a US citizen it was torturous and expensive. My visa took 9 months, the process was unnecessarily repetitive and the cost was over $5000. How does a poor Mexican who wants to come here to work and send home a few dollars to his family deal with that? The system needs to be overhauled (in fairness sensible people in all parties realize that) and streamlined. It needs to accept or deny people quickly and efficiently.

All morons like Trump and Ted Cruz do is seek to whip up anti immigrant racist sentiment that sits well with the bigoted right wing of the republican party. Fortunately attitudes and demographics are changing and moving away from them.
The US immigration system is there to replicate the system they had at Ellis island and protect US jobs. Your Green card was obtained after showing you had no clear criminal past and no major diseases, plus having your innoculations up to date. For those coming in just to work they need to certify that they are suitably qualified and not undercutting the wages of a US citizen.

The issue the country has are that people aren't willing to work pretty hard for lowish pay when there is a decent welfare system and so that is where the system falls down - at that stage the US needs outside help. But there are TN visas and such like. There is clearly a need to improve the system but there still needs to be some selectivity in the process. The frustration many people feel is that the laws are not being enforced and that people who shouldn't be in the US are not being deported, and there seems to be an inadequate effort to stop people going through the process of approval, i.e. the borders are still not secure.

Nobody is being criminalized before they get to the US. They are actively deciding to break the law by working without having the necessary visas. That might be frustrating for them but that's the way all laws work, not just immigration laws.

No, because its africa. I wont delver further into that as it will undoubtedly label me a racist by some on here wink

If you really are of the opinion that a generous welfare system is of no hindrance to getting people into work, have a look over at Calais hehe

They are all desperate to come in! Probably because of the excellent fish and chips?

In my experience, the most racist people are the left-wing anti-racists. And thats towards their own countrymen. The the rest of the world must be having a laugh.

I heard a new one today though: The reason Sierra Leone isnt developing properly is because there is not a proper welfare system in place. Im sure if they all had 2000 pounds each a month for sitting on their arse, ditches would be dug in notime and skyscrapers would be flying up! rofl

That's what I mean, we need workers who will do the jobs that Americans won't do and we need a way to accept or deny them quickly. I believe that a lot of people who are here illegally for exconomic reasons would be here legally if the system was simplified.

As far as my situation was concerned they couldn't reasonably refuse me once they had established that I was not a felon and that I would not be a financial drain on the country. They still took nearly 9 months from application to approval and asked for the same info on a number of occasions. I had to have an aids test which seemed a bit odd as they no longer refuse people with aids and I had to go to London for a medical which seemed a bit rich as they would not be providing me with any healthcare! And that for a K visa which is not technically an immigration visa!

The whole immigration system is broken and needs to be overhauled. I won't be fixed by scaremongering racists like Trump.

Thank you sir!

Wonder how the British would feel if Pedro Sanchez made a statement to the Spanish people along the lines of "the British coming to live in spain are grave dodging pensioners who have only come to Spain to draw a pension. They are leaches, perhaps some of them come to earn a honest wage"

What's with the winking? Makes you look like a tool.

If you want to be non-PC, racist or xenophobic - whichever of those that it is - go for it, don't hind behind sarcasm as it makes it really difficult to understand what you are trying to say.

Not left wingers, they are just decent human beings. I have no stats but being an immigrant myself, I can bet my last dollar that 99% of those who move do so to work for a better life. Yes some will end up doing crime but the vast majority migrate in order to work hard and earn a living. I have seen it in Dubai and I have seen it here in London.

When you get out of bed tomorrow and use that shower gel, that was part of your Tesco groceries packed by a girl from Poland and delivered by a driver from India. You walk to the station and are handed a free newspaper by the Nepalese student working part time while studying. Yoy get on the clean train that was scrubbed by a Nigerian at 0300. You grab a Costa coffee prepared by the Lithuanian beauty and end up your desk that was cleaned the night before by the Portuguese cleaners. You go to the pub after work and are served by an Australian and you take a mini cab home driven by a Pakistani.

Just remember that none them have committed a crime. They and the majority like them work extremely hard and contribute to the success of their host communities/countries.

Can you create a poll? Then we can let the nation decide.
