This thread has given me a good laugh to start the day. It's got the usual reactionary idiots going.
When I read the OP last night I actually thought that NP&E had achieved sentience. It contained everything: anti-imigrants, anti-muslims, hatred of the French, a link to the Daily Mail and a misplaced certainty that we are about to leave the EU. When the bombs start dropping, like that scene in the original Terminator films, we can trace it all back to here.
You can almost hear Sarah Connor's voice saying "...and the first sign that the machines had taken control, although we didn't realise it at the time, was when PHnet itself became self aware, and as the first act of vengeance made all of the humans endlessly log in again, every 10 sodding minutes, even if they had clicked 'Remember Me'...."
In a future ruled by a combination of this site and the Mail Online, all the terminators will be a confusing amalgam of goatee-sporting, bald director types with the 'curve flaunting' bodies of z-list celebs in bikinis.

Why not just invade them again?

Land troops at 8am full capitulation by lunch if the past is anything to go by, no one need hurt, first sign of a tank and you would her the sound of rifles hitting the floor from Dover.
How does that help, it'd just put our border 600 miles closer to the immigrants...
Yep but we would be in one of two positions.

1) too pissed to care
2) in control of who comes in

Why let the historical facts get in the way.

OK how about we just annex the bits we used to have in our hands in the 1500's.

It's the Daily Mail. Of course it pissed you off. Their articles are deliberately written in a way that make cretins feel disgusted and/or angry.
EFA.
Are you calling me a cretin big man?
If that was not obvious, I do apologise. To answer your question; Yes.

Our corrupt politicians decided (some time ago) to fine workers for the failures of said politicians.

Why is this an issue for France?

Um the driver was fined by the UK authorities, not the French. UK Border Force agents are stationed in Calais and their French counterparts are stationed in Dover.

Nice wording. The last time we fought the French in Britain we won. As for fighting the French in France it depends on your definition of France. If you include the territorial waters that France claimed then we won that one as well.

drive truck through big ass scanner like in the airports. Use dogs and Border police to pull out stowaways. Drive truck into train/boat.

How much would this cost & how much time would this take? compared to the cost of crap going on now....Zilch.

Very little.

I once crossed the border between Canada & USA and you have to do this.

As you are driving through slowly, the scanning takes no extra time.

If there's a problem, you get directed to the secure area and sorted out.

Someone posted earlier a load of old bks about forklifts but if there's room for people to get in, there's room to get them out.

Then, shove them back through the gate at the end of a pointy stick.

That's why you should take Wiki with a pinch of the stuff that's now apparently worse for you than sugar. ie: more bks!

If you want some history, the only victory (more akin to the 'since records began' spiel) on British soil by the French was in 1902.

That's got you thinking hasn't it?

edit - you probably need a clue. It wasn't an army, it was just a single Frenchman!

I can only imagine then that it concerned some tiny expanse of mud somewhere miles away where a couple of shots were fired and the territory changed from British to French. But I'm stumped!

Amazing how many people (PHs) don't know or realise this. Birthplace of British Motor Racing, and no, not Brooklands. It's on the south coast and was the first 'serious' motor racing to take place on these shores. Of course, Brooklands devotees don't like this, because it is like history being rewritten. I even had discussion with WB about it. But the records are there. It's now undisputed. And as for people spectating (over 4 days) but it was the Whit Monday - or Whitsantide as it was called then - that the crowds came. How's a crowd of 30,000 sound!

Still none the wiser?
