I first thought this was an unsavoury dining cult in the nation's capital, but how can scrotes dismantle a car to this extent and no-one notices?

Neighbour had a golf gttdi about 3-4 years ago, we awoke one morning to find his bumper had been stolen in the middle of the night, all the little fittings had been left as well.
A mate's father has an old land rover as well, some body panels went missing off that, only to be found in a self storage container in the next town over, with a few hundred other body parts from other cars.

I was saw a flatbed truck drop a car off opposite my house. It was late at night and dark.
Up to about 20 youths then appeared from inside the estate and started to strip the car. I thought this was very odd and I called the police. For the next 30 to 45 minutes, these youths carried on undisturbed. The car ended up on its chassis as all the tyres were taken as well.
The police never turned up. I managed to get the plate number of one of the cars that picked up the youths and I called the police again and gave it to them.
The 'vandalized' car stayed in the same position for about a week constituting an eyesore.

I need a new door for an Audi A5 if these guys are members on here...
Seriously, are they satisfying an already existing requirement here, or are they generating a market place...?
Remember when Ford brought out cars with double DIN rounded stereo systems? Claimed that they would not be stolen by thieves because they were of no use to anyone? The thieves just created a market place for stolen stereos in Fords by simply nicking loads of them. Suddenly Ford owners were looking for 'cheap' replacement stereo's.... probably sold them their own one back.

I did see a story about someone coming back to a train station where they left their car to find it was stripped.
Can't remember if it was a member, or just a news story link, anyone remember that?
I wonder if that was a Vauxhall.
Since it is prolific, I'd be keeping an eye on who is buying Corsas at salvage auctions.

With the locality of the Vauxhall plant you do wonder if it's a bunch of current or former employees who assemble the cars knowing how easy it is and what tools are needed.
