I always thought of the Sinai as all inclusive hotels, never realized how deep Egypt had got by fighting the Muslim brotherhood, but it would appear now every NAME state that enjoyed the Arab spring is really, really suffering for it.

The government got booted out in the 'spring' and tourism has never really recovered. I wouldn't take my family to egypt at the moment that's for sure.

A barbaric terrorist attacked in the Sinai region.

“At least 184 people have been killed after suspected militants set off a bomb and opened fire at a mosque in Egypt's restive northern Sinai province. ”

its getting more difficult to be outraged these days we have almost become accepting of these horrors as an almost weekly event around the world.
What can we do its easy to be outraged and offer our condolences but is there anything we can do to stop events like these occurring regularly ?.
I think the answer is no and that's really worrying for everyone of us.

I used to love visiting the sinai, some cracking diving to be had round there. Sadly haven't been for a few years now and looks increasingly unlikely I will be returning any time soon. Its a real shame for the Bedouin people of the region the economy must be on its backside.

Can anyone care to explain how muslims can ever integrate peacefully with westerners when they cant even get along with each other?

Its not Religion ,its not guns and bombs that kill all these people it is predominantly MEN. From planes bombing "the enemy" to suicide bombers or nutters in hotels the end result is always the same Man has pulled the trigger.
We are incredibly cruel and destructive for no real apparent reason other than greed or some perverse logic.
Its all utterly depressing and maybe a pointer to the fact that we will completely fk this planet up sooner or later

bks. MEN created religion & it is the root of most of the world's conflicts. This occurred at a mosque - a religious venue.

You see, man made the cars to take us over the road.
Man made the train to carry the heavy load.
Man made electric light to take us out of the dark.
Man made the boat for the water, like Noah made the ark.

people choose to do these things in the name of Religion or Politics or some Cult but at the end of the day an individual makes a choice, just like most of us choose not to pursue this route in life.

But religion was just (in my view) created to deal with human emotions like fear, security, belonging and to control curiosity and power.

It's just part of humanity.

History has shown again and again you either need to be uber wealthy to give your citizens freedoms, liberties and what they want, or you need a nasty b@stard ruler to keep people in line.

I'm sure this was in the manual of Sid Meier's Civilisation...

Religion is just the symptom

Trying to put a philosophical viewpoint on barbaric actions, don't even try. rolleyes Some people are evil, some people are weak willed or easily swayed. Combine them and be it in the name of off religion, money, power... They will do horrible things.

and yet the biggest loss of life has occured thanks to atheists - look at Stalin (and the USSR in general), Mao, Hitler Pol Pot being at the top of the little league. Does that mean that atheism is the root of the 20th Century's ills? Of course it doesn't, the fact is that there are a lot of people out there who, for want of a better expression, are just wired wrong

I’m pretty confident the vast majority of Muslims can and do integrate into western society yes

IMO it’s nothing more than education - teach people from crawling age others are bad and need to be beheaded or whatever and that’s what will happen.

I’m sitting here writing this at Dubai airport waiting to come home, eating western food in a western cafe listing to western piped music being served by probably more nationalities and religions than I could name and all most certainly some Muslims. We’re not fighting or arguing and we’re all getting on because we’re educated and ‘normal’ members of society. Oh, and whilst writing this the piped western music has stopped and first prayer of the day chant has started - fair play and it appears no one who isn’t a Muslim is bothered whatsoever.

Education will win in time but it’s a long slow process and may take several generations. Sadly by the time you educate those Sunni Muslims or whoever that the other Muslims aren’t quite as bad and nasty as youth thought some other bugger will be along with e different agenda to spoil the party.

Hello mate - were you at the F1? Did you enjoy it? We did Austin this year which was awesome.

The issue with education is that the particular society needs to want that change through education. It's not the 'normal people' that you have to worry about, but instead the extremists - they spoil it for everyone.

Sadly not at the F1 frown

I arrived in Dubai late Friday evening and worked Saturday and Sunday building/managing and now on my way back home to go into London at 9pm tonight for another before getting home at 1am to get up at 5am to start again - you know my life......non stop fun fun fun!

Whilst you won’t remove all members of society who are determined to have their own way, surely given time education will help?
