The L7 was a descendant of the 17pdr and 20prd, in service 40s and 50s. Their relative performances were the best in World terms. The 17 and 20pdr had Tungsten Carbide shot while the 105 had the advantage of Tungsten Alloy penetrators.That aside, the Centurion was an excellent piece of kit - and one that we could have had in servicing 1943 if we'd actually given a stuff about such things.
