Nothing I guess - but the way some people talk about the TVL - you'd think we were the only country that had one.

I can't find a single developed country that has a purely commercial/subscription broadcast model.

How is the terrestrial transmission infrastructure funded? Would that be funded by the license fee at present?

Yes just as IMO there is a benefit to the wider society for having a public broadcasting service.

Can you give an example of one country that adopts a purely subscription model for all broadcast media?

The UK would be setting a pretty big precedent if they went that way.
I think some people live in a fantasy world where state funded broadcasting and/or TV licence only happen in the UK.

Not really. The more obvious fantasy claims seem to me to be:
o the 'unique' way it is funded allows it to be impartial
o it is impartial
o we all watch it anyway
o we would all pay for it if it was subscription service

I wouldn't care if it was a straight government funded state mouthpiece paid out of general taxation if it poked it's claims of impartiality, quality, and social benefit up it's bloated arse.

Alternately I wouldn't care that it was partial and advert-riddled rubbish if I had the choice of whether or not I bought it.

Sadly, as with Socialism in the real world everywhere, it wants to have it's cake, eat it, and rub our noses in it at the same time.

It's time is over. Privatise it properly. Or just take it out behind the cow shed with a shotgun.

From the first link, the BBC at least contribute. What I was getting at, and am not clever enough to work out, is weather the loss of the TV license feewould transfer a burden onto other operators for things like transmitters.

Yes, but that's the "eat crap 40 billion flies can't be wrong" argument. Not very convincing.

Another little thing the BBC do so it can claim loudly that we need it. It's a small part of the total bill. No reason that part could not be done from general taxation.
