VED to be used for road building again!

Does this mean we can go back to calling it "Road Tax" without a PH pedant picking up on it? wink

VED will have three duty bands - zero emission, standard and premium.

I dread to think what the price of premium is going to be!

Indeed, give it 10 years and I'd hate to see the price premium for a '15' plate non-premium performance car over a '16' plate...

Most, if not all new cars warn you on the dash if a light bulb needs replacing. And other obvious faults. Why subject almost 2 millions cars to an extra MOT?

The annual MOT is a pain, but a necessary one. Germany has 2 year MOT's for used cars, but far more comprehensive that results in marginal cars being scrapped.
Meanwhile, in the real world, most people buy new 'white goods' cars with none of the above.

I'm sorry, you attribute far too much on the masses who don't care what state their vehicle is in because it's a space that they have to provide minimal input into to get to work whilst tweeting and facebooking their 'friends'. I'd even put up with a 6-monthly check.

The premium will soon be branded ultra, vpower, 5 star RON etc etc and true enthusiasts will be able to tell the difference

BBC Tracker said:
Mr Osborne says the dividend tax system is "complex and archaic". He's replacing dividend tax credit with a tax-free allowance of £5,000 of dividend income for all taxpayers.

The rates of dividend tax will be set at 7.5%, 32.5% and 38.1%.

Self employed people can't pay themselves using dividends.

Shareholders of a limited company receive dividends - sometimes.

I didn't catch all of it, but only those on over £140k I thought he reckoned. Those lower being better off. Plus corporation tax to drop 2%.
