I think it was Earnest Hemmingway that said only Bullfighting and motor racing were sports, the rest are just games.

It is a subject that will always raise the hackles of many, we are cruel to animals as are animals to each other. People who say they eat meant as the beasts have had a humane death have never been in an abattoir, which ever way you look at it death is cruel.

The trouble with most things is people always want to ban everything, it is up to the Spanish what they allow and do not allow why should we dictate?

There are a lot of people who will spout off and yet go and support Spain by holidaying there why if it is so abhorrent?

Some will say this is cruel, yet go fishing, or will go and watch the grand national and horse racing and miss the irony of it.

I am not a supporter of bullfighting but I support that it is a choice for those who want to run with the bulls or watch bullfighting, in the same way as I support allowing men and women to deliberately try to knock each other out.

Just wait until a bull has pierced his perineum, his trousers will be red enough then.

It must be an adrenaline rush, but I suspect the bulls are very badly treated and distressed which means it is unfair.
Before the bulls are released, they have had a very good life indeed.

The Spanish respect bulls.

If the Spanish stoned homosexuals and encouraged rape of children then should we ignore that too or is it just cruelty to animals that can be ignored?

You believe running with a bull is equivalent to murder and rape of children? Your brain may be wired up incorrectly.

It is not ignored, but it is something that the majority of Spanish People treasure, what right do you have to say it should be banned when you are not Spanish. If and when the Spanish decide enough is enough then it will stop. It is a particularly British thing to want to put our moral compass on everyone else because we are right and they are wrong.

Your comparison is crass, but lets be honest killing Homosexuals by Isis is real and yet we have not seen the sort of outrage we witnessed when they kill badgers or hunt a fox from the UK animal rights brigade.

He is probably a cyclist.

life is cruel death is finale.

fishing and the grand national are different kettles of 'fish' to slaying bulls for entertainment.

we ban things as we have moved on from clubbing each other and grunting.

i don't really care about blood sports, seen and killed enough animals to know there is no nobility in death and pleasure.

I don't see the amount of things we ban as a measure of our civilisation. In fact I would say the ability to tolerate different values is a better yardstick.

fking hell! That's quite a step, even for PH.

Pamplona is in northern Spain and has been under Christian rule for, oh about 1,200 years. Nice try.

I don't think I'd want to see it banned, but rather hope that the majority of humans are decent enough to abstain from inflicting cruelty on animals for entertainment. Hopefully it will die out eventually like other barbaric sports before it.
