Why wouldn't that work, say (for the sake of argument) you could lift everyone below £100k out of tax by taxing income over £100k at 100% - would that really be so terrible?

Socialist are often accused of attempting to create utopias, I don't really see the harm in trying, it's surely better than not!

I'm not really sure where to start with that to be honest.

You've spoken some nonsense in the past, but I think you've excelled yourself this time!

Just sit back and think about that. In particular, think about how much money it would raise.

Comprehensive stupidity.

Asides the fact that such a thing (effectively) has been tried, with totally predictable circumstances.

This must be his worst idea yet, apart from the shear nonsense of trying to imposed a maximum wage how would he replace the lost tax revenue? I thought taxing the rich (and firing up the printing presses) was his answer to funding everything? I guess that when the printing presses are fully up to speed he won't need any other sources of revenue...

No one would earn more than £99,999.99 and thus pay no tax. Only a fool would earn more (in salary). Income tax revenue goes to zero.

Genius idea, save me a fortune.

Give it a go, I'm all for itsmile

You don't understand - he can always print more money to make up for the tax shortfall smile

The harm in trying is quite obvious if you stop for a nanosecond and think of the consequences of a move like that would be.
