As much as I'm enjoying Comrade Corbyn's spell as leader of the opposition it's not a good thing to have any government to go unchallenged in the way that is happening now.
You say "spell" but the likelihood is that he'd be returned with an increased majority if it went to another leadership election. The national party want a hard left leader, even if the parliamentary party don't. Luckily, the Tory majority is very small and they don't have the Lords any more, otherwise things would be quite unbalanced.

'twas ever thus. IIRC after teflon toe-knee won his first term the Tories descended into civil war for quite a while, labia are just following suit
That's a fair point. You could argue in the IDS years the tories were almost as unappealing and unelectable as Corbyn is now.B
It's like some kind of automated virus scan. It's similar to the conservative back to basics campaign.

Does the Labour party have some kind of internal scorched earth policy?

now you see that's one thing that always puzzled me - it's always "Tory sleaze" yet IIRC nu-labia had more trough plundering in their first term than the Tories had in their last and supposedly ultra-sleazy term...

John McDonnell called for the “ballot, the bullet and the bomb” to unite Ireland at the height of the IRA’s terrorism campaign against Britain, The Times can reveal. The shadow chancellor also suggested, with black humour, that Labour councillors who refused to meet the IRA’s political wing should have their knee-caps shot off.
I suppose his stance against bombing Syria isn't because he's anti-violence, then.Jimboka said:
In the era of spin & game show host clone leaders, it's refreshing that he makes up his mind & sticks to it in the face of revolt (whether his course is right or wrong )
I don't actually disagree with this at all. In fact I admire some of his principles - however (and regrettably) these principles have no place in a world leader Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
