Alan Johnson, speaking now, makes Corbyn and McDonnel look like rank amatuers and blundering fools.

Alan Johnson sounds like the leader Labour should have.

I'd suggest sending Corbyn to negotiate his preferred political settlement with IS but I think I'd rather he stayed a little longer.
I don't think he's suggesting a political settlement with ISIL, rather consensus as to what should replace them.

Agreed. He has the grounding and experience many politicians lack and he has the gravitas to lead an effective, credible opposition, one that is not merely entrenched in the politics of opposing every move the government attempts to make for the sake of it.

That's fine, except that they won't let themselves be replaced, without being forced into it.

I would like to know at the end of the debate and post voting how many of these people changed their mind and voted differently if the answer is ZERO then what is the point of calling it a debate as its clearly not.

Egomaniacs love the sound of their voices.

Hello Jihadis, we've elected a government to replace you, please step aside or I'll be forced to talk more...

Fair enough, it could work.

Debate is a forum. I can debate the ethics of many topics, take in a wider view but does not imply that I need to change my mind.

Ensuring many divergent views are shared does not imply anyone has to change their mind.

He's also not said he's opposed anybody taking military action against ISIS. He is saying we need a plan in place for what comes afterwards and we can't go to war until we do. Seems more than fair to me, I also don't see why there's any need for the British military to get involved here, as I said before it should be a matter for the rest of the Middle East, which is more than capable.

Its all piffle anyway as its in the bag - Corbyn has just slowed up the inevitable by dithering and being a pain.
The RAF have got the bombs loaded, engines running and task sheets allocated they just need the all clear and they will be in the air within 5 minutes.

Exactly Cameron already said he wouldn't push it if he didn't have the numbers. Are we going to email ISIS to let them know we are coming soon?.

Surely if it came to it...as a last resort.... we could get the UN to write them a letter?

And this bunch have effectively excused the atrocities and questioned the reaction without a credible alternative. Shame on them.

When you say "this bunch" who are you referring to? Tom Watson is in favour of airstrikes.

Good point. The one in the centre who claims he leads the rest!
