I think when we send troops or in this case the Air Force into Parliament should stand fully behind them

Very significant majority. Let's hope it works and everyone gives full support to the Forces and the aims from now on.

It's clear Corbyn will be history soon. Hilary Benns speech was that of a Leader and hence the huge applause.

Several things have struck me from today. One us that Cameron has a solemnity and seriousness about him that Blair did not. There is a gravitas to today that is reflected far more than when Blair was hell bent on following junior.

The second one is that Benn is very much a leader in waiting. It's just a matter of time.

I was impressed by Benn. It takes more to make a leader worthy of becoming PM, but that speech was good.

his party have not set the bar too high lately. I couldn't stand his father but he seems a very well rounded individual and his name isn't Jeremy.
The opposition claim the reason they didn't vote for action because the Gov didn't do enough to convince them.
With all the info available far more than we are privy to they still couldn't make a decision,
the decision is do we wait to be attacked or do we continue the work done in Iraq over the border in Syria.
Corbyn was never going to vote for action and that should exclude him from ever being PM as he is unable to accept force is sometimes necessary when facing an enemy so intent on destroying us

We've been having these long distance bombing campaigns for decades & we are where we are. As far as international terrorism with a Middle Eastern bent goes, do you really think we're safer now than we were 30 years ago?
It beggars belief that anyone can hold up The West's campaign against the former Iraqi regime as a recipe for how to help create a stable Middle East. The place is a total clusterfk these days. If you put a at the end of that sentence at least you'd gain a touch of credibility.

The Iraq regime comparison was a totally different scenario. This will work with the land troops but it's going to be necessary to work with the Russians.
As I said many posts ago this is a huge opportunity for US-Russia cooperation against a common enemy.

The comment "continue the work done in Iraq over the border in Syria" may not be holding up what's happened up to now following Obama's combat troops withdrawal in Iraq as something to emulate in Syria, which your reply appeared to assume.

It's possible that johnxjsc1985's remark refers to the 'line in the sand' dividing current bombing in Iraq from the previous non-bombing in Syria, in the sense that bombing the enemy on both sides of a line not recognised by the enemy makes more sense than bombing one side only.

Then again, given that this is the internet, both interpretations could be askew.

The idea of history doing nothing but repeat itself identically and inevitably is false anyway.

If Corbyn and Livingstone are interviewed today I hope they accept the decision last night and either support the forthcoming campaign or at the least lie low.
If they start to undermine the Government and rant on against it blah blah blah then they will be politically finished. tts.

After seeing and reading the student-like antics of Corbyn and his supporters, I cannot believe how such a petulant, immature idiot is 'leader' of the second largest political party - he is like a parody of all that is wrong with the Left. Corbyn didn't even move to allow Benn to get past and sit back down!

Couple that with the vile far left tactics in the run-up to the vote (and after), surely Corbyn is many times worse than even Michael Foot! His acolytes sending pictures of dead children to Labour Party members, Stella Creasy with threatening Twitter messages (hope she gets glassed)!

And they call the Tories 'The Nasty Party'. Labour grass roots showing their true colours recently, and it is not at all pretty.

How their tactics aren't deemed illegal is puzzling!
