Even Tory voters / Labour haters should not be enjoying this any more. The country really needs a strong government AND a strong opposition to get the best deal from Brexit. At the moment the PM has flounced off and both parties are in total chaos... OK the Tories less so but still.
A 1 party state is good for nobody.
The Torys are simply better at hiding it. Wait till the electioneering starts.A 1 party state is good for nobody.

All the PLP could hope to do is follow Abbopotamus's suggestion and buggger off and setup their own party.
Surely if the rebel Labour MPs - all 176 of them - have any principles, that is what they are going to have to do. There is simply no other option for them (short of JC dropping conveniently dead).
Except for the issue of funding, I guess. The Unions won't bankroll centre-Labour, so who would? Pro-Remain slightly left of centre businesses? Possibly, but difficult to imagine ducks could all be put in a row in time for a GE in October.
A couple of days ago I was banging on about a new centre party forming, composed of the Pro-EU elements of the Conservatives and Labour. There are something like 175-180 pro-EU Tory MPs. And 174 who it seems want to be somewhere other than under Corbyn. Together, that's a lock on the House of Commons...

Can't see Tories and Labourites uniting- too many differences in outlook to reconcile and I imagine a decent slug of mistrust. On the funding, there are many credible, well thought of politicians in the PLP. They would benefit from massive publicity and there will be plenty of people and organisations with money who will help fund if they think the project will get traction and they might have insight/influence.

If any of them had any gumption the wet Torys and the 176 "Blarites" would be having a chat and a cuppa, and discussing a new party.
Well personally I'd like a centerist/moderate social and economically liberal party like that to vote for, (the Lib dem dont't fit the bill). Let the Corbyn types have their left wing party to represent the electorate that are into that sort of thing, they won't get a majority at an election.I voted for Cameron as a centre right leader, but as a remainer I'm not really drawn to an seemingly increasingly right-wing Brexit led Tory party...
"Fringe Elephant". David Blunkett on sky news going mental. This is unbelievable. A former cabinet minister going live on air and openly predicting their annihilation.
Corbyn is going to be standing alone next PMQ's. I'm going to go for Chuka Umunna vs Corbyn. Although why anyone would want the job is beyond me.

I agree it is almost off-the-scale unimaginable. But the circumstances right now are truly extraordinary. What the whole things needs is something that could both tip this idea into a contender and also break the standoff between the EU and the UK. Such as another ratchet of pressure on the EU in its current form - another country announcing a referendum and getting it done in the next couple of months would do the trick.
