Todays strangeness:
"Corbyn to pledge £30bn to 'restore pride and prosperity' to south-east England"

So thats the already prosperous south east, the most prosperous area outside London, one of the most propserous areas in the UK, gets more funding to become more propserous...

Oh, no wait. The south east as UKIP seats...

Personally I would divert funding from the rich regions and into under-funded London. It could pay for tourist attractions, theatres, museums and other cultural enhancements which London has none of.
Even as a Londoner. I agree that we are FAR too London Centric. I was pleased when they said the Olympic Athletes tour will be in Manchester! Pissed off that this fkwit Sadiq Khan then said "I want it in London as well" (I hope none of them go to his version afterwards!)

Has anyone added up the total of "The Commandant's" funding pledges. 30bn for this, 50bn for that. Must eb nice to own an unending pot of gold laugh

I wonder if the attendees will have reserved seats on the train ?
Nah, they'll all sit on the floor smile
He has given us a sign.

Let us follow his example.

Let us all sit on the floor.

Follow the holy gourd.

Don't forget that London is not the entirety of the South East. Parts of East Sussex and Kent are totally run-down stholes.

Labour lost quite a few seats in Kent in 2010, places like Chatham. So arguably this is the first sign of Corbyn's team being aware that they need to do well outside Liverpool to get into power. Perhaps the grown-ups in Labour have returned from a long summer holiday.

I am still concerned that Jawknee is absent
Then I read about Keith Vaz
Could Jawknee and Jim the industrial washerman be one and the same person ?

I went to the Brighton Speed Trials on Saturday and was appalled at the state of decay that brighton has sunk into. The picture sums it up: balcony closed and rotting for years, rubbish strewn along the balcony and rats running about all day, and a down-and-out's living room just lying there in full view. It is a shameful state of a once proud town that was run for some years by the Greens and is now under Labour.

Apart from a couple of streets in the Lanes, Brighton has been a hovel pretty much since the Prince Regent left, hasn't it?

When I was a lad we went to the Speed Trials in my Dad's car and I marvelled at the policemen in their white helmets and short sleeved shirts, and the general Riviera-like feel of the place. Now it's terrible and seedy.

Brighton and Hove Council is trying to raise the £30million estimated to restore the Victorian Esplanade on Madeira Drive. It was condemned in 2013 after found to be unsafe due to rusting of the ironworks and subsidence.
