A what? A torrent file? Seriously? Seriously??
Right then. And post where? Searched by whom? When? Why?
Newsflash - because you missed the rather big hint I put in the initial post - most ppl have either never heard of a torrent file or bit torrent or FTP or any of that other "geek" crap. That goes double if you are busy mum or dad doing their normal life. Even if they had heard of it, the lifespan of this is less than 24hrs, actually its more like 12hrs, because sleep and work takes care of half that time. Why only such a short period? Because tomorrow brings more and different immediate crisis such that that random torrent file on that random place on the internet falls out of your "to do" list.
Yes, there are LOTS of ways to do something. To make it viable so that LOTS of ppl see said information and can find the individual information relevant to them in the short timespan available to them to able to give it any attention however, is much more difficult in the real world. Todays news is tomorrow's fish wrapper.
You miss the point. You don't actually have to do it, just threaten the 37m people you will. By sending them a mail directly that'll scare them. Even if only 1% cough up £10 each though fear of being published that's nearly 4m Right then. And post where? Searched by whom? When? Why?

As I said, their timespan to do anything once they made a public threat was measured in hours and less than 12.

I rest my case. Yesterday it was news. Today it was a funny story over coffee at 9am and forgotten by 5pm.

Really? So you don't think the people who registered on the site will be worried. I certainly would be.As I said, their timespan to do anything once they made a public threat was measured in hours and less than 12.

I would have thought anyone engaging in that sort of activity would generally be looking over their shoulder a fair bit regardless. If they don't, I doubt this sort of episode will change their general demeanour toward what they're doing.bad company said:

reading wiki, it seems it is a sausage feast. 70% are blokes, and the lawsuit involving the women who was to, 'create over a thousand bogus member profiles within a three-week period '.
I imiagine the user, a married bloke spending hundreds on credits, talking to another bloke sitting in a office writing from a well trodden script, whilst the user gets a chub on.
sounds likes a rinsing plan to get as much money from blokes as it can.

Not sure Wiki is a reliable source. How would they know what % of Am's clients are male?I imiagine the user, a married bloke spending hundreds on credits, talking to another bloke sitting in a office writing from a well trodden script, whilst the user gets a chub on.

BBC radio interviewed a female member of AM a few weeks ago.
Interesting morals.
But this bit brought a smirk:
Hackers report said:
Following the intrusion last month, the hackers, who called themselves the Impact Team, demanded that Avid Life Media, owner of AshleyMadison.com and its companion site Established Men, take down the two sites. EstablishedMen.com promises to connect beautiful young women with rich sugar daddies “to fulfill their lifestyle needs.” The hackers didn’t target CougarLife, a sister site run by ALM that promises to connect older women with younger men.
(My bold.)But this bit brought a smirk:

It’s important to note that Ashley Madison’s sign-up process does not require verification of an email address to set up an account, so legitimate addresses might have been hijacked and used by some members of the site. One email in the data dump, for example, appears to belong to former UK Prime Minister (Tony Blair).
