BBC advises so.

So it would appear the apprentice didn't kill him rolleyes

You never know. Asthma attacks often have underlying psychological or neurological causes - stress induced, for example.

I think we can agree that your suggestion it's due to the apprentice is very very unlikely.

There will be many other more likely causes.

I never said it was likely either. I was just wondering if he had health issues of some sort. Maybe I was right.

I have a theory that an awful lot of people who appear on this programme are people who suffer from various psychological disorders or inadequacies.

I would not be surprised if this chap had a mental health history of some sort dating back to well before he appeared on the show.

It will be interesting to hear what the coroner's report concludes when it eventually is published.

Or maybe he just worked himself to death. He was boasting about putting in 18 hours days and only sleeping for 4 hours. Although that leaves 2 missing hours.
Hmmmm....

Exactly. Nowhere there did I say the show killed him. In fact, I suggested he might have simply pushed himself too hard - especially if he had a pre-existing medical issue.

I have asthma, acute attacks are normally brought on by chest colds and chest infections. Panic or severe stress can have me reaching for the inhaler, as can cold weather and allergies, but these won't cause an acute attack.
Eric can't be wrong, you should know that, it's in the bible.

Is that "bible" with a lower case "b" or a capital "B"?

Asthma causes approximately 3 deaths per day in the UK. About half of those deaths are considered to be 'preventable'

I don't know if there is a seasonal factor, but I suspect pollen counts and poor air quality in the summer months might contribute.

Poor chap; very sad for his family.

Yup. I don't believe it warrants capitalisation.

Nice swerve though.

Now, let's keep this thread to it's topic.

Indeed one of PH's true know-it-all's.

Could be on the mark - my Mrs had an acute asthma attack years ago when she, unknowingly, had picked up pneumonia. Long story short: after release from hospital she looked at her asthma work book (she's a pharmacist) and informed me that there were 2 lists 'if life threatening....' and 'if seriously life threatening...' and they had done everything on both lists...at least once. yikes

She was lucky she was able to get help, clearly and very sadly Stuart wasn't able to, poor chap.

It does. It's a proper noun.

Scary stuff, thank goodness she was okay.

I lost a friend in her early 20's. She'd always had problems with her asthma, they never seemed to be able to get it under control. Had a severe attack one day and didn't make it. Terrible, terrible shame.

I met Stuart a few times through a mutual friend on the Isle of Man, a genuine nice/funny guy.

Very sad for all that knew him.
To add:
In reply to some of the speculation on here, I have no reason to believe this was anything sinister, Stuart was about to launch his revolutionary (to the island) 4G service on the Isle of Man...He was very excited about this, everything was going well for him.

He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Update:
Stuart died of an asthma attack, his funeral is 21st Aug at St Ninian's Church....Shame I am unable to get across to pay my last respects, I'm on the island the following weekend so will do so then.
