So what was the deal then? Over the years I've heard numerous rumours of her terrible personality but apart from the word of that fat Scouse comedian (who's name escapes me) I've yet to hear a corroborated example of her terrible behaviour

Corroboration from another portly scouser.ETA
Fat scouser was Jimmy Tarbuck

Just to add, the review of the show you linked was where I heard it-I went to that tour and it was the unfunniest example of an attempt at "comedy" I've ever seen or heard. Truly, awful, awful stuff.
My parents had paid for the tickets so we felt we couldn't walk out as they were sitting next to us but believe me, he died on his arse that night. Good actor (at playing himself perhaps) as Ricky Tomlinson is, don't ever let him convince you he is a comedian!

Ricky Tomlinson? Ricky Tomlinson? I'm no Cilla fan by a long shot but deck me hell will freeze over before I entertain the opinions of a violent thug no mark like Tomlinson. Perhaps he should think about paying some compensation to the victims of his violence before he passes any more comments.

I'm not sure BA cabin crew could make a good character witness, considering (from what I've read on pprune) she'd only talk to cabin crew through her PA.
She is however, like a small number of others, viewed throughout the thread as a vile piece of work, with hardly a good word said of her. Obviously, none of us are saintly all of the time , but such a consistent view from those who have had to deal with individuals certainly says a lot, sadly so, in this case. rxtx said:

Mind you, as a very frequent flyer with BA I have very little good to say about BA cabin crew these days. Virgin are MUCH better! Perhaps Cilla just refused to put up with rude, offhand, inattentive crew that have a misplaced sense of superiority? Cheese Mechanic said:

I wonder what I will be like if I ever end up with such ailments.

The fact that she was virtually totally deaf and in constant pain from almost crippling arthritis probably had nothing to do with her grumpiness.
I wonder what I will be like if I ever end up with such ailments.
That and the fact she had publicly stated she did not wish to live past 75 ,made me wonder if there was more to her demise than immediately apparent. As for the comments about her, many are historical, going back many years. I wonder what I will be like if I ever end up with such ailments.

Last time I was on a plane I had 2 broken ribs and a cracker of a headache.I wonder what I will be like if I ever end up with such ailments.
I still managed to be civil and polite though. Arthritis is no excuse for being a horrible person.
