Got him! Well, he gave himself up-->

ITV Local News said:
On Tuesday evening, police said a 33-year-old man had attended Bethnal Green police station and identified himself as the man in the video.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "The man was not arrested. He will be interviewed by officers from Tower Hamlets in due course."
"In due course" I hope will be when he has recovered from his 'injuries'. wink

I have not once tried to justify his actions, the bloke deserves everything he gets. She did however provoke him in the first instance.
Right. The first instance wasn't the bloke walking out in front of her then?
I guess you've never ridden a bike in London? I do everyday and you can't even get down one street without that happening! Lol

Edited to add - nice try trying to stir it up.....again

The guy is a fvcking coward who deserves a criminal record (presumably to add to his collection) and the st storm the video is likely to cause him. Is that clear? I'm not defending the 'mug' but he's nowhere near her when she asks him not to try and push her off. Did he actually try to push her off? It doesn't look like it, when she starts saying it he's in shot with his hands in his pockets and his initial response is a not entirely unreasonable "shut up", to which she presumably flips him off. So it looks like she initiated the confrontation and escalated it over nothing. Now just to be clear, again, there's nothing she did that deserves his hooligan assault but seriously why would you get in a confrontation in that part of town? I honestly think these cyclists with cameras go looking for trouble. Cue posts accusing me of defending him and being a cyclist murderer in 3, 2, 1...

Your mum?

I'm joking, sorry...

So glad I don't live in London, people should move to the shires where we don't flip the bird or push each other around. London get a grip.

Interesting people think the cyclist is in the wrong or 'started' this - I just watched the video. The man is crossing the road in front of her trying to make her stop for him. She calmly says please don't knock me off, he then swears at her. So she gives him the finger. Sorry but if someone did that to me id probably do the same, or should we apologise for getting in his way?!

Patronising tone in the voice and gave him the finger, then wonders why someone lamps her. Cyclists do like crossing pedestrian crossings when they should be waiting.

six and two threes.

But this really isn't six and two threes. He walks in front of moving traffic and then starts swearing. Cyclist then swears back. I think experiencing a 'patronising tone' is the least I would expect if I intentionally walked in front of traffic.

In the less salubrious parts of Manchester people walk out in front of cars trying to make you stop! eek

Just wait until I get bull bars fitted to my Micra - then you'll regret it!!! mad

I don't condone his actions, but why did the stupid woman had to wind him up in the first place. I really am beginning to dislike a lot of what I see from cyclists, it's almost like cyclists are all traffic wardens these days.

It's oxygen deprivation in the frontal cortex, lowers their self awareness, raises aggression (as does cycling in London traffic) and leads to terrible decision making. People on bikes should be forced to take EPO (unless they're in the tour de france, ironically)

He's a proper tt, no doubt. Not a nice thing to do.

However, I must admit I laughed out loud at the noise the lady made when she hit the floor. I'm sorry.

There are far fewer Londoners in the Metrollops now. Most moved out long ago.

You're making events up. He is nowhere near her and has not made any move toward her when she weirdly asks him not to push her off, his hands are in his pockets and there is more than enough room for her. Watch the video again. He doesn't swear at her, surprisingly he says 'shut up'. Then she (presumably) flips him off and he goes absolutely mental. If you cycle in London someone will walk out in front of you at every single junction, it's just how it is. Once again an observation of her behavior is not a defence of his.

Most of the time she'd not receive such a response. The problem is, the time she does she has nothing to stop it.

There are now multiple edited versions appearing that don't show the initial incident
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xArfvcOTTL0

Whatever happens pedestrians have highest priority in the road.
Other road users should always try to give way.

If youre a pedestrian and someone on a bike (or in a car) does what was shown in the unedited video
isnt what follows going too far?

Surely this is the same as any conflict, large or small? A does something to B, B retaliates/escalates, A doesn't like it much so retaliates/escalates or walks away, and repeat...

The lady cyclist who is the weaker party is relying on polite society for it not to get out of hand, but in this case it doesn't turn out like that. The consequences in this case are quite extreme but once she instigates or retaliates/escalates then she shouldn't expect that to be the end of it. I would think her being more mobile and likely having done similar with no consequences before may also be a factor.

This is not apportioning blame based on gender, type of transport, etc.
