It's not a military regime there, it's a 'democratically' elected civilian government.

Yes it is and external intervention has prevented a truly democratic mandate from being allowed to flourish.

And how if that mindset prevails with the country folk here? Vote rigging, Trojan horse, Rotherham etc

Or perhaps you choose a few isolated and very public cases to tar an entire group with. No reply for my invitation for a drink on Monday then?

It's 968.

Of course you were handling secret intelligence. So secret that you've posted the fact in a public forum.

Apologies for my scepticism. I'm sure you can provide evidence for this but it's odd to claim such a connection when it's likely to be secret?

I never said it was secret, all open source - you just need to know where to look. Corroborated by people on the ground.

Don't get antsy because the country of your decent is in a state of chaos, it's not my fault.

When you said it was stuff that doesn't get to the news agencies, it perhaps made it out to be more "hush hush/ special people/ need to know super confidential" than it was.

If it was open source can you share what it was?

Look at it the other way. I'm sure the authorities there often ask the same questions about us. Our allegiances flip-flop every decade or so in various parts of the Middle East as & when it suits us.

That's as maybe, but we have a society that functions very differently. There is a reason why Malala Yousafzai had to come to the UK to get an education.

I realise Pakistan is a large country - not all of it is the same - and with a short and rather challenging history, which in many regards is still trying to establish itself, but denying there are any problems is not going to solve anything and more than feckless western intervention.

Of the people I know which vastly outnumbers what you know, they are just like me.

It's a pity you're not willing to meet for a drink. No need for a pathetic insult though. I wonder why you wouldn't meet for a pint? I'm not sure what you think will happen other than a chat and an opportunity to reappraise your prejudices. Not sure why you're so chicken.

Open source - here's a good summary of current affairs in Pakistan - it updates every week.

Meant to apologise about my quote. I'm sorry to have sounded sceptical, perhaps I had the wrong end of the stick about the nature of the 'Intel'.

No worries - if it was secret I wouldn't have mentioned it. Even simply doing Google alerts for 'Pakistan Security', 'Pakistan Police', Pakistan Military', etc... you can build a far more in-depth picture of what's going on than you'll ever gain from the mainstream media outlets. We also subscribed to a couple of agencies that specialise in gathering Open Source material for the markets we serve.

Also, FYI, my interest in the Pakistan market was working with a number of regional local partners to equip and train local law enforcement & military units to protect schools, hospitals and other academic and medical facilities.

Again, no secret but the apathy from the authorities was extremely disappointing - they don't seem to care.

Btw - my link above is extremely TiC.

I have made it crystal clear I have no wish to meet you, but you do not give up. And then resort to name calling. Rather pathetic - and you are one of the educated ones rolleyes
