Looks like the US has a done a deal with Russia and ISIS are now very fked. Green light effectively given for the Russian dogs of war to move in and take out the nutters, Assad gets to stay with a "long term plan" for his replacement, no doubt with a puppet.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34298826

Huge climb down for the Yanks, they had no choice in the end though, they made the mess by trying to take out Assad and Europe is paying the price in migrants. Syrian borders will now be taken back and ISIS all but obliterated, going to be very messy though and a fight only the Russians could stage due to the number of civilian casualties that will result.

Hmmm yes and no.
That article on the BBC is very low in actual stated content and seems mostly rumours.

The US have no choice presently that much is true unless they want to start a war with Russia.

The reality is the Russians will do what the Russians want to do and the US are trying to do damage limitation so they can continue with their plan to put a puppet regime in place. This means they will "work" with the Russians to try wipe out ISIS and if they can they will try take down Assad at the same time.

Mentioned again on 6pm news but cut back to 'rebel alliance' has taken control and executed the syrian army members

It may be why the Americans are shuffling around asking who did what and was it a good idea

Solution is quite simple....

Decide who the lesser of 2 evils is, and run with them.

Whilst I do agree, it's a bh knowing that someone, somewhere is going to suffer. Whatever the outcome, someone has to die

I think it's safe to say that IS is worse than anything we know of. Assad only turned nasty when the economy started to sink. Not that I know much about that regime but how bad exactly are they in the scheme of dictatorships - surely some combination of sanctions (as per Iran) would have steered him towards better behaviour?

Never trust an Arab, I think the saying goes...

I'm afraid back stabbing and lying is a cultural trait in the ME...and it seems 'not learning your lesson' is a western one. They seen to mug us off with alarming regularity.

Native Americans said the same thing about Englishmen. More deep thoughts to come.

I'm amazed that nothing has been learnt from getting rid of Gaddafi and Saddam.

I wouldn't bet on it.....

The might of the former Soviet Union failed to defeat the Islamist factions in Afghanistan between 1979 and the 1987.....and the roots of both ISIS and Al-Q as groups can be traced back to the Soviet-Afghan war of that time.

The whole of the middle east is a giant clusterfk of epic preportions and will remain so for decades to come....with the problems just expanding ever outward from the region as time passes.

The US and Russia have not come to agreement to work together. The US and the press are alluding to that being the fact or goal but Russia is at direct odds with what the US are attempting to achieve. Let us not forget the US sanctions against Russia at present do you really think Russia will have any interest in working with the US gov?

Putin - the lies keep on coming don't they.

He says he wants rid of ISIS, he doesn't, he wants rid of anybody who's trying to depose an undemocratic tyrant (like himself) and ISIS just happen to be part of that group.

The Russians say they've hit an ISIS training camp and a command centre - what a complete load of bks.

It won't be long before the Russians 'accidentally' shoot down a US or UK drone that'll be never seen again. Mark my words.

You say that as if what comes out of the mouths of western politicians is 'the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth'..... laugh

Western political leaders have made a right hash of Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya over the past 14 years and have so far got pretty much nothing right either when it comes to Syria. They don't have a clue.
