There is right and there is reality.

Be the change you want to see in the world...;) Something I tell my customers on a regular basis - I don't care what is meant to or should happen, I only care about the reality and what can happen.
I swing both ways on this, professionally I try to only hire on competency and skills, not looks or other unconscious bias. However it is extremely difficult at times, you do just have preferences for looks and personality that can be hard to get away from. Especially when you have a "pool" of people and can pick whomever you wish as a colleague (as in law or accountancy firms)

So please explain to me why women wear makeup?
I dont know, I'm not a woman. I have an inkling that it might be because they can, want to, or in some way or other feel they'd like to or have to. But I cant give you the answer I think you're looking for, and even if I could - with a loaded question like that following my earlier post, I'm not sure the answer would be good enough for you. Maybe this article can give you the answer you're looking for; http://elitedaily.com/women/wear-makeup-when-you-w...

The majority of girls I've spoken to usr makeup because it gives them a bit of a confidence boost-its an internal thing, you know sometimes not everything women do about attractiveness etc is for the benefit of men.
There been studies which show that what women most hope for when they make themselves look pretty is compliments from other women.Sheepshanks said:

Whilst I think she massively over reacted to the message and it was a bit nasty to release a private message for all and sundry to see - the witch hunt she is now enduring is going too far.
I guess that's the problem putting yourself in the media spotlight - you have to ride the wave, wherever it takes you.

Saying "I wear make-up to attract men" in today's society has numerous negative connotations, I'd be surprised if many women would admit to that even to themselves. In fact I suspect most women will not be keeping tabs of how much make-up they wear and in what situations.
The only valid way of working it out would be to put a sample of women in a number of situations and observe them without them knowing why and see if proximity of males and availability correlate with amount of make-up worn.
The opposite experiment is actually very easy, you put pictures of the same women wearing different levels of make-up into popular dating apps. The revealed preference is that men actually like a lot of make-up, only once you look like a clown/drag queen does it start being negative.
One last unscientific observation is to look at the revealed preference when men and women start trying to pull members of the same sex. Stereotypically the men try to become prettier, better groomed and buff the women go the other way.......

You could put women in an environment with no men - and one with loads of men - then observe if there is a difference in the number of trips to the bathroom to check or reapply their makeup. If the makeup is there for their own benefit - there should be no difference.
