Can't believe you lot; mansplaining and whitesplaining it away as if was just some misjudged compliment.
not all - I think that most on here have acknowledged that the comment should not have been made, however it was. The correct thing to do at that point would be to say "sorry" - which he did. The classy thing to do following on from that point would have been to say "apology accepted" and go on with your life rather than try and ruin someone's career and life. This harridan encapsulates why there are so many difficulties between certain types of people "...older people should, if anything, be even more respectful of people coming into the work-place..." but no slack is cut in the opposite way? Horrible, horrible woman
All very well to say from your ivory tower of white male privilege. Any unwanted flirtatious comments should justly result in the end of your career and a media circus.

Just say sorry and move on with your life? Sorry but the apology didn't meet her exacting criteria so she has to go on TV and keep it up.

This is either dripping with irony, or stupidity. I'm really not sure which.

I must admit that I thought that the first point may well have been ironic but just in case it wasn't I answered this one though I feel I could be fetching my parrot

I'll be honest you had me up until the 'whitesplaining' bit.

Even the most illogical of her supporters would have a time trying to make a race issue out of it hehe

smilesmilesmile I'm amazed that anyone needs a parrot for that. Well done!

I thought I'd have a quick look on mumsnet to see what the sisterhood had to say on this matter. I think it's fair to say that the thrust of their threads are diametrically opposed to this one.

I'm actually a little surprised - despite their reputation on PH, a lot of the mumsnetters come across as actually pretty sorted and sane (and probably quite hot ... if only they would post photos ...) but I think the sane ones must still be on holiday.

I've often wondered what they make of PH assuming they're aware it exists of course

In my experience women are scared of very little.

The media refer to her as a 'high flying barrister' but it doesn't stack up; Keele for a start, bar school 2010, mphil 2011, presumabaly that means she didn't get a pupillage, so when did she do that year, 2012? And now she's doing a Phd? So she was a practising barrister 2013 and 2014 at most? Riiight
Her page at Mansfield Chambers refers to her as 'Human Rights Barrister of the Year, Acquisition International, 2013' so presumably that's a height of sorts. In view of that it looked to this non-barrister PHer as though the Proudman higflying flight departed, stalled at some point, and the PhD with p.r. to go at Carter-Silk's expense is an exit strategy / emergency landing strategy.

Media or academe next, then ECHR judge? No experience necessary.
There's a certain sort of person in the legal profession that puts him/herself forward constantly for these kinds of awards. They're bound to win one at some point.

Not when it comes to topics about men. Frightening place.

This woman seems to like media attention, if not male attention.

Given the complete lack of Magic Circle, White Shoe or Big Bazza set representation in the 2014 Legal Awards, I'd say that these awards are somewhat hokey:

http://issuu.com/aiglobalmedia/docs/legal_awards_2...

That said, a deserved win for Antarctic Fiscal Law in the category "Best in Fiscal Law - Antarctica"...

...although I am amused by seeing the grid reference used in place of a post code - it appears they actually have a law office (or at least a brass plate) in Antarctica!

Go on, I'll say it.

But PH is scared of them.

Mumsnet, at times, appears to be run by some interesting individuals with very strong views and opinions. They have a membership which appears to me to be very similar to PH's in terms of most are level headed with a slight learning towards their natural bias, but there are some utter fruit loops about.

Due to the unique relationship that some at the top of Mumsnet have with the wider Media they are seen as a go to renta gob for women/child issues.

They do not seem to have much trouble from letting other forum owners and admins know if they (mumsnet) are unhappy with anything on another site that might potentially spill (or have spilt) on to their site or cast it in a less than glowing light. Nor do they appear to have any issue in reminding others of their unique and unfiltered access to the mainstream Media.

Please note though that this might be totally off whack, it's just the impression i have gained from issues between this site and that one over the years and third or fourth hand comments from others, including some Mumsnetters.

imagine her BF marrying her and then in a few year divorcing her ..... can you imagine the fallout. Im sitting back mouth aghast at just the thought of the flak and ste some poor bloke would get - not just the normal ste but the atomic mental ste that would hit him to the nth degree.......

run a mile. Anyone got a link to her BF to warn him? Love to hear what her BF thinks.

ps

(if she did get married what name would she keep? hyphenated maiden & husbands, husbands name, or the prehistory not her fathers name using now with the above combination? OT )
