A guy I know had a very bantery (is that even a word) relationship with a female colleague; sometimes it became a bit risqué between the both of them, however it was always in jest and taken in the light-hearted manner that it was intended.

I can't remember exactly what happened and what was said as it was a while ago now, however one days she made a sexually suggestive quip to him, he responded about her lips, but not the ones up top, and the next thing he was up with HR, received a warning and had to attend a sexual harassment in the workplace course.
Along similar lines I guess - an incident I know about.

A team were working on a particularly challenging project. One of the male members of the team went onto one of these t-shirt logo generator websites and put in the name of their project into a logo that read "if you think XYZ is easy - you should meet my sister" (or something stupid like that). He sent an email to a few select people in his team knowing they would find it funny. The people he sent it to (including female members) all found it funny.

Unfortunately one of the female members of his team showed the email to another female colleague outside of the team thinking she would also find it funny. This other woman apparently she didn't find it funny at all and complained to HR. The guy who sent it was hauled in front of HR, reprimanded and was made to issue a formal apology.

You have to be so careful with banter. If a third party seeing/overhearing it takes offence - you can find yourself in hot water, even if the person you are having the banter with took it as it was intended.

I do wonder sometimes about incidents like you described though. It would be so easy to lure somebody into a false sense of security having daily banter with them - then pull the 'harassment' card out at a convenient time (e.g. to sabotage the competition in a promotion race or as a preemptive strike before a bad performance review).

March 8, International Women's Day, possibly to be a "Day Without a Woman" as women go on general strike in the USA.

Link to Vogue website - yes, I read all kinds of things on the 'net
I read the first couple paragraphs, all I could think of was Millie Tant out of Viz...

They didn't dare mention Thatcher being the first elected Woman premier.

Yep, some of the stuff that I say to my admin manager could get me easily sacked for sexual harassment, if she were that way inclined; probably divorced too!

Fortunately she takes it in the way that it is intended (not that way!) and gives as good as she gets.
Does that mean she could easily be sacked for sexual harassment as well? Or am I being silly?

BBC 1 were doing a piece on domestic violence this morning, pleasantly surprised that they pointed out about a third of victims are male.

Today I told the cute girlie in the office that my Love Train would shortly be arriving at her station if she wanted to get on board.

She laughed, put the squeeze on me for a chocolate chip cookie and changed the subject to how she wants a Dachshund.

Thank god there's some non-nutters around.
Changed the subject? She told you she wants a sausage dog!

I heard that and like you was pleasantly surprised.

I have seen no other news mention this, they have promoted the usual line by only interviewing women's groups.

I really hope May recognises DV affects men as well as women and does something about the horrendous inequality in tackling it.

That's exactly what I thought laugh

As for banter between guys and girls. Having been in trouble in the past for such things. I now limit myself to girls who are rounded and successful in love and life. Not precious or think they are amazing and prone to not being able to take banter back without getting all het up and huffy.

Its working better laugh

So if I call Brianna an idiot it's sexist, but if she was still called John would it be OK?

This person is an utter loon and has been for a very very long time. This is extremely tame compared to other things they've got up to.

Well known as Bat Wu. Partially due to their comparing themselves to Batman, but mainly down to being batst crazy.
