Kid is a genius. Certainly didn't miss out on making full use of opportunities presented.
Indeed, and the story isn't over yet.

I see he wants $15million in damages or he's going to sue the school and his city
Well, even if he gets 10% he'll be set for life.

He's just lost my sympathy.

Met Obama and a few other 'worthies'. Named as one of the worlds top 10 influential teens and probably has a guaranteed entry to any Uni/tech company he wants. I struggle to see what damages he has incurred.

Incidentally the BBC has a picture of Ahmed's clock here.

Now given that his father is a politically active Sudanese Muslim, you could be forgiven for giving that a closer look.
That's some "clock" I always like a small clock personally, one that I can sit on a bedside table and tell the time from. Not one I have to carry around in a metal briefcase!

Well there's extra space in there for carrying a load of sausages - mind you you would probably need to bind the sausages together with a bit of wire or something to keep them from getting all jumbled up. All totally innocently.

It's blatantly obvious to all and sundry that the kid built a clock to resemble a bomb. No ifs or buts.
Apart from all those people who don't agree with you.

'Set for life'? This is PHs - $1.5m would not even pay for a couple of decades worth of family holidays and dining out don't you know. smile

Eh? What about it makes it look more like a bomb than a clock made by a kid?

Apart from all those people who don't agree with you.
All those people need to take their apologist politically correct rose tinted glasses of then.

You couldn't make look more like a bomb and less like a clock, if you dosed it with mazipan essence.

Apparently his father has a bit of form for this type of thing, still, I'm sure they're enjoying their new life in freedom filled Qatar

To be fair, the kid could have built it in black bowling ball and put a fizzing fuse on it.

The briefcase clock though, .. such a handy way of carrying a plug in the mains timepiece, I am sure it was entirely innocent.

Setting aside the obvious, you know, him being a bit brown and a bit Islamic and all that, what on earth makes you think he would want to make something that would be mistaken for a bomb? He showed it to the fking teacher, for god's sake, it's not as if he left it ticking in hallway.
