He supposed to be intelligent and walks in school with his homemade contrapticion.Ticking away.

After all the problems they've had in the States with kids going gun crazy in schools not surprised they kicked his backside.

TBH the whole thing looks jenky.

Its not something he "made" IMHO.
The PCB looks 1980s to me.

Looks like an old mains clock which has been removed from its case.

I was expecting a Pi or something.

Fair play to Obama for inviting the lad the White House to show him his clock. If the kid was British he would probably have invitations from politicians wanting to see something that sounds very similar.

No, that is stupid at all. The terrorists have won haven't they?
Is it stupid, or not stupid at all?
What's "that"?

I like the way we are able to mock a totally genuine reaction to this.
In this day an age with terror cells operating around the globe and with their religious medieval mind-set whereby to sacrifice anybody in the cause of their beliefs goes without a second thought, that it is totally correct for teachers to be suspicious of anything that is not normal.
Also that the US seems to be a hot bed of other religious crack-jobs along with extremist individuals wanting to take a political or personal vengeance against others.

If it were the case that one day we read a news headline of "boy detonates home made bomb killing 6 classmates, but teachers thought it was only a clock".... I think the outrage would be higher due to the lack of action on what could be deemed totally obvious thing to do.
It *is* great that we can mock the stupid, the ridiculous.
Please, can you define "normal" for me, and the teachers of the US that they might be able to react appropriately when they see something "not normal".

And, just to prove the stupidity of the police reaction, if it had been a bomb the headline that started: "boy detonates bomb....", would end, "after police turned up and did nothing, didn't evacuate, didn't remove the boy or the bomb, nothing"

If you were a religious crack-job extremist individual with a home made bomb that you intend to detonate, would you show it off to people first?
Are you trying to convey to me that all religious crack-job extremists are of sound mind and would do things in a logical organised fashion of normality?
He was trying to find his feet in a new school - He took his home-build clock project to show his science teacher - Science teacher said it was a 'cool clock' - Having seen a photo of it, it would have to be extremely cunningly made to hide any amount of explosives in a nearly empty briefcase.

He is a 14 year old kid with a hobby box, not a nutter with a bomb

Did you miss the bit about it being a clock?

No, but I think you may have missed the point / context of my post - specific reply to the one I quoted, but to prove I hadn't missed the bit about it being a clock I've highlighted part of my post.

The head knew it was a clock when he called them.

If they genuinely thought it was, why didn't they evacuate? Ergo, one can presume they always knew it was a "hoax" despite the kid saying throughout "It's a clock".

You know, for all the comments about "what does a Muslim/Asian kid expect taking that to school" if they had been racially profiling the kids who shoot up schools, they wouldn't have looked twice at a brown kid.

No worries. Just glad I didn't get too argumentative over a misunderstanding
