They wouldn’t be unemployed. The other manufacturers would pick up the slack. My point is the continued lying should not be acceptable. They havn’t done st for all the impacted owners here.

What’s needed is a hard look at the group and start breaking them up. Too much power.

About 1 years earnings. They have yet to compensate the investors who lost billions. Owners of current/new vag cars will pay for all of it. More denied warranty, less goodwill, lower build quality. Time will tell but they’ll look to claw it back somehow. Just my opinion.

It will be interesting to see if the Germans really whack them hard...
Doubt it. It's 20% state owned.

No matter what you say I don't think I'd look to replace a Golf with an i20 any time soon.........

I reckon hammering VAG wouldn't affect the supply of 'quality' vehicles as VAG quality, imo is only a thin veneer of interior plastic.

There are plenty of other brands, lots of them German, that would pick up the slack and frankly, no one gave a toss about Rover when it was dropped like a hot coal, why should we be at all worried about this lot?

Haven't they gaoled VAG executives in the States already?

Yes, one executive was sentenced to 7 years and fined $400,000. Despite plea bargaining.

We're being shafted. The EU were never going to hit VW hard, tis a German company and massive employer. I'm all for giving them a $100 billion fine, and distributing all of last years profit to other car manufactures in recompense of potential lost sales. Making an example of them is the only way this practice will be stamped out.
