Or maybe....just maybe...he's a medical professional who's looked into the research and isn't entirely convinced?

People forget a big part of science is looking at methodology and conclusions with a critical mind, and seeing if they agree with the conclusions. All this consensus drivel spouted by the alarmists seems to have made people forget that......

The link was offered without comment.

As to climate change skeptics...there are hundreds of papers to reference and I've referenced many tens of them in citations on various climate threads. The nature of the beast in climate hoax territory is for simple soundbite alarmism on the believer side, followed by considered rebuttals from skeptics. Not wishing to divert the thread - I wasn't the first to mention climate - ash and MP head over to the climate threads and claim there are no referenced comments anywhere on that part of PH.

The WSJ says that car makers are exempt from the clean air act thus cannot be held accountable for criminality/fines over fiddling smog tests https://thestack.com/world/2015/09/30/volkswagen-c...

Oh they'll get the money out of them, don't worry about that.

I hate the term 'defeat device'. It makes it sound like there is a thing that they have attached to the cars and the fix will be to 'remove' it...

I guess flashing the ECU doesn't sound quite so dramatic.

Hardly surprising, currently on C4 News that the Govt did their own tests into diesel emissions in 2013, found that they were way higher than they should be and have suppressed the results ever since.

Curious.

Owners of VW emissions scandal cars will not pay more road tax

Motorists will not be forced to pay more in car tax even if their vehicles are found to be fitted with illegal software to cheat emissions tests, the Government has confirmed.

It's got nothing to do with anyone being dramatic; its the language used in the Clean Air Act which defines the term to implicitly include everthing from a bolt on devices to software.

It's interesting that many diesels are "engineered" to deliberately not rev to the limiter during the MOT emission test

And footage of one on a dyno showing the differences. Doesn't say how many times they tested it.

Yes, if they could have got the emissions down they would have.

rolleyes FFS When they ran the dyno in 2wd they didn't turn the traction control off, thats why the dash lit up like a christmas tree and why the gearchange was early, its no wonder it didn't make full power. The back wheels arn't moving the front are spinning, it's not in some 'special mode' it thinks its lost traction, at speed you also get the red brake light come on. If they turn the traction control off they might activate 'test mode' but not like this. All the gear, no idea.

Interesting as they said at the start that they have to turn the TC off which is how it probably triggers the 'cheat' mode. Yet on the test they didn't turn it off. Very strange.
