the number of diesel vehicles has increased exponentially since the early 90s.
digging around for information on this and it's a little inconclusive but what's clear is that this has not happened. Share of the market has increased and this varied widely by country but the number of diesels hasn't increased exponentially. The growth is, with a few blips and slow downs, pretty linear. Diesel is ~60% of car sales. For example, BMW didn't even sell diesels in the UK in the 80s, they did in Europe. Now the vast majority of BMs are diesels. Diesel just wasn't on the radar for most people back then.

Was that written by a climate change skeptic, because the rhetoric sounds familiar. No scientific facts or papers, just someone who should know better sowing the seeds of doubt, "it's just a few parts per billion it can't do any harm".My Mum doesn't believe smoking is bad for you that doesn't mean she's right.

Hardly surprising, currently on C4 News that the Govt did their own tests into diesel emissions in 2013, found that they were way higher than they should be and have suppressed the results ever since.Curious.

As a 'cheat' VW owner, why would you take your car in for the recall?
It will come out with worse performance!
Anyone buying your car may want to know if it's been recalled and will use as a bargaining tool if not?It will come out with worse performance!
Engine blows up "Sorry Sir you didn't have the recall"

The are some deluded people on here...
If any of your biased little opinions came true.. I expect VW would compensate for any losses. So the owners would be saving that 6p a mile. A few hundred in rfl. Cash in pocket. and believe it or not, lots actually prefer the way diesels drive!
DVLA have already said they are not going to re-classify current cars CO2 figures - so no change in RFL for existing cars.If any of your biased little opinions came true.. What I do take issue with is you - you think that because you get good miles per gallon, that is the be all and end all, and you think that people like me, who do not own, or ever wish to own a diesel are somehow 'jealous' of your MPG, as if I (and many others) couldn't walk into any dealer and buy one if I so wished!
You're just crazy!

As always with the unpleasant PH gang mentality when someone refuses to kowtow to the alleged truism then abuse follows.
Which is a political anti EU diesel move by the Americans at its roots.
There are already more than 200 Low Emission Zones across Europe already where use of diesel vehicles is restricted.Which is a political anti EU diesel move by the Americans at its roots.
I believe the Yanks are doing what we should have done a long time ago.
