Another one, bus vs Lupo

Amused at the options in the Telegraph poll.

Who is in the wrong?

1 Bus driver
2 Car driver
3 Ronnie Pickering

Not really sure how this is similar to the other scenarios being described, unless I missed where the old lady had the opportunity to allow you passed.

Exactly the same happened to me, but with another car not a bus. I was passing a row of parked cars approaching a T junction, a car turned into the road, saw me and instead of waiting just drove straight at me. I have no idea what he hoped to achieve. I happened to have a book with me so after a shrug of my shoulders I switched off and started reading. No other cars behind either of us, and after 2 mins of revving his engine and a few blasts on his horn he gave up. He backed up just enough for me to get through with an inch either side. I gave him a cheery wave and went on my way smile

Bizarrely a few weeks later I turned into the same road from the opposite direction, saw a van passing the same parked cars so I stopped and waited, the van continued towards me, them some old duffer behind me decided he didn't want to wait so pulled past me and drove straight at the van! The van stopped and the old guy just drove up the nearside pavement to get past. The world has gone mad.
The scenario in your second paragraph has happened to me. There are some prize onanists on the road.

The Taxi driver gets out, stanley knife in hand, threaten to use it to 'settle' the matter. I pulled out my mobile and before I could even dial 999 he got back in taxi and reversed to make way.
I had similar years ago in Sutton with a rather aggressive Black cab driver - I'm sure most of them aren't s but never used a Black cab since (or at least not paid for one). With hindsight I should have just reported him. Didn't get the knife response but he did follow me and pull up (was visiting a uncle). Just to add my uncle does (or did) alot of weights and would have pulverised him.

This happens at least every other month on one particular road near my house. It's very, very annoying, not so much for me who has been 'done' but that you have to wait much longer while they try to navigate two cars through a slice of road that only fits one.

Does anybody else find his whinny voice really annoying.

I would have given way, just to put a stop to that.

Continuing the bus theme

That's my sentiment. If you get caught up in this sort of thing, you're part of the problem.

Did you watch the video right till the end. The car is visible before the NSL signs - just a little further back on the right is a wide gravel drive (the video maker even put a caption on the vid to point it out).

There must be thousands of miles of NSL single track in the UK.

Amazed someone needed to say this on a motoring forum. Its always better to leave a road at NSL so people drive to conditions rather than applying a speed limit where they use it as a target to drive in all conditions. Somewhere in the middle is useful speed limit setting
What's unusual there is that theyve applied a speed limit to first bit. What was that supposed to solve?

A section of the A887 in the Highlands is a NSL, single track, A class road. It's the only single track A class road now left, although they were at one time not uncommon (the OS had a special symbol to indicate them on 1" maps).
