Anyone stuck behind could have turned around & taken a less than 5 minute diversion. But the drama queens wanted to make a fuss and be all over YouTube, as is the way. They all deserve each other.

The woman in the convertible was terrified from all the bullying towards her, no one talked to her in a calm and polite manner did they?
How do you know - the video only picked up about 15 minutes into an incident that could have been resolved in 30 seconds - not wonder people were getting angry by that point.

Regardless of whether or not the old bloke should have been on the road or not - the fact of the matter is - she could have easily resolved the situation, but instead chose to inconvenience a lot of other people by digging her heels in - to prove what?

Is not the road plus pavement wide enough for two cars, perhaps with mirrors tucked in? Incompetent drivers incompetently driving bloated cars.

Not really - I think Oldfield Road is closed between Forlease Road and the A4, so the only way round would have been all the way back to Hibbert Road, and then to Braywick Road

Looks like there are roadworks on that road currently and dated 2nd March - 21 Oct.

I wonder if the road was closed on that particular day - might explain why people didn't re-route.

Reminds me a little of the stubborn 'me! me! me!' attitude I encountered the other day...
My house is off a narrow private track which is about 100 yards long and has one passing place.
Just as I entered off the main road I see a car at the other end so stop expecting her to pull in to the passing place which is, at this point, 5 yards to her left. But no, incredibly she drives straight past it and comes straight at me and I'm thinking "what are you going to do now, love ? I'm not backing out into the flow of traffic..."
Once clear to her that I'm not backing up, in a temper she flings the wheel to the left and grounds her little hatchback on a very large rock - one of many that line the left side of the lane, to dissuade parking. These are quite prominent, unless your observational skills are non existent.
Oops !

A few months ago a similar idiot had PARKED her car in the middle of the lane, preventing me (or anyone else) from leaving for work. A call to plod who then call the RK, and 15 mins later she comes flapping shamelessly from a nearby house muttering that the handbrake must have failed....."and rolled uphill ?" Was my response....

stty attitudes everywhere...

So did she have to reverse back up?

"Just wow" at you thinking the woman is being 'bullied' because people asking her to move - when she's deliberately blocking the road for no good reason.
...and the old guy hasn't?
The old fella seems to have lost his senses temporarily through fright/confusion.

Bit worrying, given he's in charge of a car...

Most worrying, but seeing as he had loads of people around him telling him what to do, not surprising and understandable.

And yet it's not understandable in the case of the woman?

Yes it was. It's been fully closed off at the A4 for ages.

Correct, she doesn't appear to be either in a panic or scared enough to want to close herself off from those stood by. This is evident.

OK so we are back to the nub of this. Is it worse to be unwilling to reverse, or unable?

I don't blame the woman, or the man. Though I feel for the man more, and the people held up. The woman wasn't going to be bullied, but she had it in her position to resolve the situation quickly. Whereas the man didn't.

I would need to place myself in the situation of the people held up...is it easier to try and help the old man to back his car, or try and placate the woman. I would probably think worse of the woman in if I had been held up. biggrin
