Ignoring all the political ideology, whatever you may think of their aims, the vast majority of Britain First supporters - that I know in person - scare me.

I wouldn't want to engage in conversation with any of them, as I know how the 'conversation' would likely end.

As a white, middle class man, the rising popularity of this group frightens me more than any religion or ethnicity.

Cant help but feel this undermines their point, somewhat?
I hadn't heard of Britain Frst until I read your post. I've had a look at their website. They seem to be angry at white lefties, rather than different religons or ethnicities.

Why do they scare you?
That's their latest shtick. The majority of their campaigning is against the Islamification (I made that word up) of GREAT BRITAIN (fk yeah)

And because the supporters I know in person are aggressive, stupid and prone to violence when they run out of words (which often happens quickly)

There was an organisation in the 1930s that had a similar name. In fact, Lord Rothermere (Chairman of the Daily Mail group at the time) was a leading light - and commissioned an aeroplane from the Bristol Aircraft Company which was also called "Britain First" -

There was a Facebook post earlier today from "Britain Furst" which stated that Big Ben was going to be renamed "Big Mohammed" and that you should share to stop it happening.*

Britain Furst is a parody group taking the piss. Also I'm sure that Ice T image was coined up by the same group, but it looks like some meathead has taken it seriously

The Lord and his esteemed newspaper were quite fans of that nice Mr. Hitler, I understand, prior to the outbreak of war.

They're just a bunch of thickos why waste your time giving them a moments thought, they'll never go any further than a few nutty posts on Facebook. It's the "Class War" throbbers who go around spray-painting war memorials and terrorizing business owners you should worry about.

BF (and their close relations the EDL, etc) have cost South Yorkshire Police around £4 million in additional costs for policing their 'peaceful protests' - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshi...

... since 2012. How much have the police spent on the various 'occupy' protests or the recent 'Class War' ones? They're all a bunch of losers who just want to cause hassle, but if it was a competition the left-wing throbbers would be beating the right-wing throbbers by a country mile.

That blogger isn't that sane either, judging by a flick round his site.

I don't keep up with popular beat combos much, but I believe the gentleman performs under the nom de guerre Ice Cube; Ice T is a different gentleman altogether.

SYP haven't spent much at all on policing Occupy or Class War protests. They've said that the vast majority has been spent on policing these right wing protests (and the resulting left wing counter-protests).

Very, very few of the locals want them 'marching' through their towns - the local churches have published an open letter criticising their plans and asking them to cancel it.

Luton Police were concerned enough to get an injunction against them ( https://exposingbf.wordpress.com/2015/06/26/a-stra... ) . It'll be interesting to see what happens when that returns to court shortly - they've already started the begging letters to fund their defence.

They're the latest reincarnation of the BUF/NF/BNP/EDL. Im not sure if they're growing as much as rebranding.
Their leader was a pretty ideological nutcase in Northern Irish politics. If you leaf through the scaremongering and patriotic BS there is quite a bit of religious stuff, which doesn't really get shared. They also keep sharing comments about Lee Rigby, which his family are really not happy about, even so much as using the tagline 'Remember Lee Rigby' on a ballot paper.

Now to research this post I found their website and want to throw the lot of them in the sea.

I think of them as UNILAD's drunk racist uncle.

And they claim the found (Jim Dowson) is no longer involved. Seems odd that he's still linked to several of their feeder websites and companies though.

The problem is the unwitting, most of them are on Facebook and dont really remember what Britain First is after they've shared something, but when you see it come round again and again it gets boring.

How Britain First message out is very clever, it just happens to be a very blinkered view of things
This sums up the problem fairly succinctly.

They are getting a lot of exposure on Facebook by posting plausible and broadly popular material, but their underlying intent is nowhere near as mainstream and benign and people are being suckered into giving credence to a fairly nasty political group.

And I see this a lot on Facebook; people who I know are not racist or extremist, sharing BF posts. I actually think that part of this - and also the rise of (much less extreme and very different) UKIP - has only been possible because of the way the left screamed "racist" and shut the debate down for so long, and also because there are a great many British people (themselves often also first or second generation immigrants) who have caught the stty end of the recent open borders policy.

The curious thing is that the one person on Facebook that shares their stuff with me considers me to be "far more right wing" than her. I'd call her a traditional Labour voter.

Proof again that the right/left terms really don't work.

The 'ex' considered me Right Wing whilst PH's would probably consider me Left.

I think I'm in the middle, mostly Left but with some Right.

I think the Ex was a Hippy and PH's is UKIP headquarters...

This organisation seem to be made up of predominately working class people. These are likely to be people who have their roots in areas that have been changed beyond recognition by immigration. I suspect that they are angry, frustrated, and feel sold out by progressive governments. They are not champagne socialists living in Chiswick, whose lives are unaffected by mass immigration, social change and cultural erosion. I think the way they say things does not do them any favours. I can't speak for any underlying motives, but taking the website at face value, are we able to sit here and say that none of the concerns are valid? Are we in the business of the vilification of the views of the working class, simply because they are not as eloquent? Is it how they say it rather than what they say?

Just being devils advocate here.
