On the matter of spray painted poo, some time ago there was some survey done on the common, piles of poo were counted and sprayed. Some colour code was in operation. Nothing changed, those, like us, who clear up continued to do so, those who don't give a stuff continued to not give a stuff.

The question raised by someone of liquid jobs is a tricky one, as is our hooligan's habit of picking the longest grass and spikes shrubs to get his own back. We do our best including carrying a few folded up kitchen paper towels to remove as much as possible.

Can understand how non owners object, but in a "look a Squirrel" moment, litter is a huge and increasing problem. Any walk, except in the forest, could fill a bin liner with discarded drinks cups and bottles, sandwich and takeaway containers, plus any number of other things, little sod found a pink and black thong, presumably ripped off in the throws of a Friday night bit of leg over.

I doubt the fines will achieve much. I'm fortunate enough to live in Cornwall and most of the walks I take my own dogs on, are littered with bags that just get left (or tied to trees or bushes! WTF is that all about?) Irresponsible dog owners simply don't give a toss and know there's little chance of any fine being imposed.

Can the fine be circumvented if they pop it in their pocket?

ETA: What's with this American 'poop' nonsense? It's st, dog st, dog's mess, dog droppings, dog poo, or even dog eggs if you must.

Or, excrement, or faecal matter.

They should go one step further in my opinion.

the fine plus a S59 type system, so if the same dog is caught fouling more than once, it is immediately due for euthanasia at the owners expense.

In my local borough it seems that there must be a by-law which says that the dog mess must be placed in a bag and then the bag must be hung on a fence, or tied to a tree. So far as I can see, most owners comply with this regulation.

The strange thing is that I have never actually seen anybody do this!

Answer : 'fk off' and walk away.

I'm in no way a supporter of dicks who let their dogs st everywhere but this is taking the piss.

whilst I understand what you are trying to say, its not the dogs fault that the owner is fecktard... Maybe re-home the dog at owners expense and a ban, but not putting said dog down.

but just how is Daventry Council going to establish as to whether dog owners have about their person the required 'poop bags'?

Good morning sir.... I have just picked up my dogs' poop and deposited them in that bin over there...they are the black ones if you would like to check.

Yes. A quick reflection and surely dog owners grab a handful of them? Maybe the rules should simply be - you must always have one on you. Doesn't matter if the wee mite has just st 5 minutes ago, he may need another.

Bob, mother, brother etc
This reminds me of the French requirement that you carry a throw away breathalyzer in your car.
"Avez-vous votre alcootest dans votre voiture".
" No officer, I just used it 5 kilometers ago."
"mais vous devriez porter deux monsieur".
"I used the the other one 10 kilometers back". Can I go now.

Yes, I'm not sure the ideal of the poo-free utopia can ever be realised.

Aside from domestic animals there are sundry wild creates that leave their mark; badgers, foxes, deer, rabbits. To use Mrs Digga's terminology, our average walk in the woods crosses "ten different types of st".

My dogs are trained to only go in long grass, so I never have to pick their poop up.

Not sure why all other dog owners don't do likewise.

Responsible dog owners (like me) get angrier than non dog-owners when other dog owners don't pick up. It tarnishes us with the same st (I'll read that again).

I welcome the Council initiative even though there is no practical way it could work. At least it sends some sort of a message.

Generally the people who don't pick up are the same anti-social sts who drop litter and think car insurance and car tax is done on a voluntary basis.

Compared to twenty years back it seems to me that the dog poop problem has been dealt with rather successfully. Compared to South France near the coast it is absolutely disgusting with dog poops scattered randomly like a pox. Paths, grass verges, beaches the place is a dogs lav'. Quite literally you are likely to step into it at any given moment in time, unless you focus at all times keeping your eyes wide open. And yet the class of person walking these dogs is certainly upper and these are reinforced with packs of stray dogs.

Who's going to enforce this? Not many civil enforcement officers outside the city centre/residential areas.

I agree, I get so angry walking my dog past someone else's st because im convinced the next person I pass will think it's me.

I can't see the fine making any difference whatsoever, they need to go all out with under cover CCTV and shame people on the 6 o click news.
