As the title, I read on my Yahoo News that Daventry District Council is to introduce new regulations within it's area. Take your pooch for a walk onto public property without the means of 'clearing up' after your dog and you can be fined £100 by the Council. I'm all for dog owners to 'clear it up' and in our area most do, but just how is Daventry Council going to establish as to whether dog owners have about their person the required 'poop bags'?
The new regulations come into force December 1st 15' and will be in addition to the existing maximum fine of £1000 for failing to 'pick up'.

Draconian, harsh or just about right?

Can the fine be circumvented if they pop it in their pocket?

ETA: What's with this American 'poop' nonsense? It's st, dog st, dog's mess, dog droppings, dog poo, or even dog eggs if you must.

"Hello sir, I'm the council poop bag inspector, nice dog you have there. Can I see your poop bag please?"

Seems fairly straightforward to me.

Good morning sir.... I have just picked up my dogs' poop and deposited them in that bin over there...they are the black ones if you would like to check.

Yes. A quick reflection and surely dog owners grab a handful of them? Maybe the rules should simply be - you must always have one on you. Doesn't matter if the wee mite has just st 5 minutes ago, he may need another.

I usually two ro three bags when I take my dog on a walk, I just grab them on the way out. It is very rare that he would go more than once on a walk, so a double bagger or a split bag (the dreaded poo finger) would use up all my stash without the need for any more.

How many should you take on a walk? 5? 10? just in case the poo bag inspector wants to go through your pockets.

As stated earlier, the people who don't pick up, still wont pick up, they'll just have a bag in their pocket for the inspector.

Good... In fact its well overdue, the scumbag owner that lets their dog leave turdzillas down our street should be shot and hung.

Once, they let the dog go on a friend's front door step (he lives 100m away), its disgusting and rude.

Its not like a dog owner can 2nd guess when the pooch might need another dump, so to go out with out a poop bag is ridiculous.

Seems to me that the 'means to clear it up' regulation is farcical and typical nonsense of a Council.
Pity the dog wardens trying to implement the daftness of it. The only excuse I can imagine is that the Council wanted to increase the maximum existing £1000 fine.

Hand on heart I can say I pick up 95% of my dogs' deposits, but the one just short of a Shetland pony is a bit shy and often does his in deep grass areas and things can get a bit "messy" and near impossible to pick it up.... but, unlike many, I do try honest guv.

I walk mine mostly in very rural / woodland areas and often pick up handfuls of plastic and cans of all types so hopefully this makes amends.
