Given we're now in a world where mass travel and immigration is pretty easy, it was bound to happen.

The only reason we ever had 'White British' is that we were small territorial groups. This is the next stage of human evolution...one single 'beige' race!

I'm confused, aren't all babies born in the UK British?

Article smacks a bit of "if you're not ethnically white British, then you are a bit of a concern".

No. Depends on the parents' passport, doesn't it?

And I dare say even more will be British non-white too, like my mate Abdul's daughters who are a light brown. Abdul is an atheist and as British as they come. His daughters are big fans of Peppa Pig.

My parents came over from Ireland about the same time as his came from Bangladesh. Both have grandkids the same age. My nephews would be 'White British' and Abdul's kids would be 'Asian British' - the only practical difference is they are a few shades darker.

I though most British were a pink colour anyway. Cannot remember the last time I saw an albino.

My parents came over from Ireland about the same time and their grandkids are the same age as Abdul's daughters. Bar the shade of their skin there is little to differentiate them and thus it's ultimately a non-story.
yes

I'm non-white but as British as they come. My parents came over here in the 60s and my dad would support England in the World Cup etc. He was buried in this country rather than "back home".

What was the point of the article or this thread?

I don't actually know whether my kids are white British or not. I am white British. My wife is British, but her parents were born in Trinidad and Germany. Our eldest is olive-skinned, straight dark-haired and brown-eyed. He looks Southern European. The middle one is pale-skinned, curly blonde and blue-eyed. He looks like a perfect Aryan. The youngest has skin mid-way in tone between the other two, with blonde curly hair and blue eyes. She looks Northern European. You'd never guess that any had West Indian blood.

So you see, there may be even more of those scary non-white British around than you think, some of them disguised by their genes as white British!

Don't give a toss what colour they are, may or may not care about them being "non British" but would depend on circumstance.

I assumed this, but no, being born here does not entitle you to automatically becoming a British Citizen.

I was born in Cape Town and despite the fact that I'm drinking a bottle of beer in a Western Provence neoprene holder, I'm not South African. Although given the respective performances at the world cup perhaps 'Ek is gabore in Suid-Afrika' is something I should mention more regularly.

In response to the OP, I don't a monkeys as long as if they are citizens they grow up wanting to be British

I couldn't give two sh@ts what colour the kids being born in the UK are and I can't think of a good reason why it should generate anything other than social studies interest, but I do care that they are brought up to be proud and generate pride in being British.
