Considering the BMA responded to questions put to them about the leaks as reported in the article it shows it is pretty much genuine. That they didn't try to deny them also demonstrates that - my reading was that they could only say they weren't official policy, there was no denial it was what their representatives said to each other. Not sure how much more convincing the report needs to be, I saw it picked up by the BBC too.

The junior Doctors have voted not to accept the new contract, the BMA rep has resigned, but I expect Hunt to do a Corbin.
One of the main stumbling blocks was the total failure of the new contract from stopping trusts abusing the number of hours a doctor can be scheduled to work in any one week.

I don't have time to search for this now but weren't there limits on the number of hours in the contract? I seem to remember this being an area some picked up on as it would mean there might not be enough doctors available.

Oh no

I support the junior docs but if you refuse a deal negotiated by your union and ACAS then what next?

More than 100 road shows were organised where union leaders met with members to explain the new deal, which differed substantially from what the government had previously offered.

Never a good sign.

58% to 42%. Surely that's undemocratic biggrin

The BMA had been under pressure from all the Royal Colleges as the consultants contract are next up. What keeps being overlooked by most is the JDs are more than capable of reading and assessing the contract themselves and reaching their own conclusions.
Slightly puts the dampers on all those that said the sheep doctors were being led by the union.

Hardly. They're probably intellectually superior to their union members.

The email trail suggests they were potentially being 'misled' by their union.

So Hunt fighting dirty, does not want the Junior Doctors to be heard in open court, he has tried to put up a financial barrier to squash the hearing, Looks like he has failed because Joe Public is willing to put their money where their mouth is. You can too, here:

This is what the government gets for imposing unworkable, unfair and ill thought out conditions. Pay rises for MPs and Cameron's advisors whilst the rest of us suffer? All in it together? I think not.

Against the backdrop of NHS spending, it looks madness.

The NHS needs fixing quickly. What is happening within it is beyond daft. It is tragic and scandalous.

That escalation of spend 1997-2008/9 is alarming and of course that excludes the PFI off balance sheet funding....

I do not blame the GPs for being unhappy and all this bks about they knew the work before they took it up, that is true but the workload and the changes being demanded is not fair or safe. When they make a mistake because they only have 5 mins to see each patient it is always the Drs fault
Yes indeed change happens but as the post to which you replied to pointed out, there's nothing compulsory about remaining as a GP.

The idea that those affected by change might somehow have or be granted the power to resist change is unreal.
Many GP's are leaving the service not being replaced by new entrants. This is the primary reason why so many practices are struggling with the result that patients are unable to be offered timely appointments. This problem is also affecting dentists surgeries.
