Is there now more sugar in more products than there was 30-40 years ago, or is it a case of not burning off what we consume, like most did 20-30-40 years ago?
Yes. the increasing popularity of "Fat-Free" and low-fat product has increased the amount of 'hidden' sugar in stuff. Basically, they took the fat out and replaced it with sugar in a lot of things in an attempt to keep a semblance of flavour.

I like Jamie's initiative and he is geuine. If adults want to eat a certain way be it plenty of sugar or fast food that is their choice. But please don't force your children to go the same way. They depend on adults to show them the way.Jamie has the right approach.I doubt if Cameron would ever listen, not in his interest.
He's genuinely trying to promote his new low calorie book.Eric Mc said:
People moved about in the past because its what they did in their jobs. No many people don't - so they have to make extra time in the day to "move about". It's not always that easy for everybody for all sorts of reasons - some genuine, some spurious. Some people just aren't interested in physical activity. That was always the case - but their jobs gave them the physical exercise anyway.
We have to tackle the problems that exist now - not wish for a world that has gone.
Sure, so people should quit staring at their phones or watching TV and get training. I know plenty of so-called busy people who decided to make that change for the better. You can find them here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/enWe have to tackle the problems that exist now - not wish for a world that has gone.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility?
This. Charge fat fkers to use the NHS. Charge them for their diabetes pills and their operations. That way the problem folk pay and the rest of us aren't punished with them. That would maybe make a few more folk think about that extra poke of crisps than another 10p on the price.

Apparently. Historically people had a low sugar diet, the industrial revolution required lots of people working their nadgers off, and needing a source of cheap energy - sugar was cheap thanks to slavery and was an excellent energy source when you were burning 8 to 10 thousand calories a day down a hole in the ground.Sugar is still cheap and full of energy, but you only burn 1500 calories a day watching telly and eating sugar.

Taking this slightly of topic, is the stuff in diet-coke that I consume copious amount of, really bad? Really bad, not chemtrails bad.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AspartameSome info for you there. Personally I would rather boil my head than drink diet drinks. I just point blank wont drink them, but then again I also rarely drink FF coke.... but it has to be FF not diet or some other ste to make you think it tastes the same but doesnt.
So already we
shouldn't eat butter (one of the fatty acid can never remember which)
then reduced salt
then calorific values on pack
colour coding food so we know what is good for us
reduced fat
reduced alcohol intake
the problem isn't our food intake, it's our lack of movement

So I propose an Apple tax

Thanks for the link. I'll have a quick look. The reason for not drinking FF but 'lite' is not lack of sugar, I just like taste more. Some info for you there. In moderation, it's fine. There are a lot articles online about diet drinks doing stuff like causing cancer but there's a lot of stuff that suggests it's nonsense.

Moderation = 2 cans a day. I know, I know The only thing diet coke makes me do is want to drink more diet coke and then want to visit the gents a lot.
It does look like chemtrails-lite type of thing. Is water still ok?
