So he's not wanting a criminal conviction, just financial compensation?
Criminal conviction is for the CPS and courts to decide. He can ask all he wants. Civil cases however are his to make if he sees fit. He'll win, too, the question is how much. The BBC failed to protect him from... (etc). It's a HASAW issue, apart from anything else.

All that may be true, in which case we can say humans are a species and there are no races within our species. But humans still aren't a race. We are a species.
In terms of taxonomy yes, but we still use the (perhaps imprecise) term human race. My point is that the attempt to subdivide the human species (or call it what you will) into races is rather outmoded. People tend to discriminate against others on grounds of colour and other physical attributes, on grounds of national origin, and on cultural and religious grounds. Some cultural/religious groups such as Jews and Sikhs form groups that are protected under race discrimination law. Others, such as Muslims, had to wait for religious discrimination law to be enacted before gaining similar protection. It is arguable that legislation to protect religion and belief was a bad idea. It might perhaps have been simpler to legislate that for the purposes of race discrimination law Muslims would be treated as a protected group, although that too would have had difficult public policy implications (because if Muslims, why not Buddhists, and so on, albeit that there isn't much Buddhaphobia knocking around in the UK, AFAIK).

Back on thread, nationality is a protected characteristic.

Clarkson wasn't the boss, he was a fellow employee.
So your saying there is no hierarchal order within the BBC? they are all employees with the same grade? I think you will find that the salary scale alone would make Clarkson the boss which is also why he was getting someone else to get the evening meal. But I could be wrong maybe its the other way around.
He was a contracted employee. I'm sure he would be paid most though.

After this incident, his contract wasn't renewed by his bosses. He apologised and wanted to carry on, but it wasn't his choice.

Assaulting a fellow employee merits sacking. The BBC didn't sack him though as they pointed out. They just didn't give him a new contract which was ending soon anyway.

If he's really been off 'sick' since the 'incident' then one it says all you need to know about the ever wasteful BBC and two I can fully understand why Jeremy punched him.

Zero sympahty from me, he needs to MTFU and move on.

terminating a contract of a well connected and 'respected' senior member of the team is........well terminating of a contract..not renewing the contract as expected in layman's terms = Sacked! Fired! no new contract the guy had brought himself and the corporation in to bad light and he had to go......end of ..............sacked wink

I expect we'll hear little more from this. It'll settle out of court surely? None of the parties will really want the situation coming to the fore again - Tymon will get a wedge, Clarkson won't even feel it, group hug behind closed doors and that's the end of that. Everyone's happy......

Hang on, he's doing this because it's given him a bad name? He now thinks this is going to improve things?

I'm sure a pile of money will make all the stress go away and he can get back to work, not that anyone will want to work with him in case they make him cry and end up in court.

They didn't terminate his contract though.

As always stated, it wasn't renewed.

Really? Is his name not tarnished and this is what he be famous for for most of his days. I can imagine any stranger who hears his name and makes the connection will have a snigger to themselves leaving him self concious.

Just countering your point that he can get on with his life with no bother / lasting impact
While I cannot speak for others I don't blame Oisin for Top Gear's BBC 2 days being over.
That is JC's fault and he has admitted that. I don't think anyone blames anyone other than JC.

A punch up is just that, for me if my boss punched me (also a bit tubby), him being sacked would be enough in that situation thanks.

How much would it take for Oisin to be happy?

£100?
£1000?
£10,000?
£100,000?
£1,000,000?

Where does it stop.
He's now BACK in the public spotlight where as if he wasn't trying to get his little potato-shaped mitts on JC's money, he would have been further in the dark.
He's brought attention back on himself by doing this.
If it was that bad he should have pressed charges at the time - I was under the impression that JC apologised?

It may have escaped your attention, but MingTFU isn't really going very well for your ilk, is it? And it's what got Clarkson into bother in the first place. Keep dragging those knuckles around.

Who cares? Someone who can't rustle up a rare sirloin got hand bagged by a man who drinks rose wine and bases his humour on casual racism which looks bad on paper but no one can seriously believe the man is a racist.

Frankly if I got a stiff arm for being a bit useless I'd ask for an apology and then crack on.

Regardless I don't believe a word of the thing and think it was all contrived to get Clarkson into a more lucrative contract. If he'd walked out on the BBC for more money the sh*t he would have taken would have been impossible and Gear Knobs or whatever it is to be called would have been watched by a lot less peeps

You may find people in Argentina have an opinion which differs from you own.

Off sick, he got punched by Clarkson, an out of shape, 50 odd year old, chain smoking Rose Wine drinker, not Floyd Mayweather ffs.

I am not "hard", but neither am I a soft touch, I would like to think if he had punched me, I would not care who it was but I would have smacked him one back, then I would go back to work, the following day, with a tale to tell.
And most of the people who have heard his name think that he's a crying little who ruined Top Gear for them. That's an enormous number of people.

He's the victim of a punch but that's about 0.0000001% of this. You're thinking from the 'sticks and stones may break my bones' angle. There's a lot more than that.
Yeah, granted, it is amazing how many stuck up for Clarkson after he punched someone, even Clarkson said he was wrong and an idiot for doing that, say what you want about Clarkson but he is fairly self deprecating and aware of himself being a bit of a knob, he gets told enough.

It is the idiots baying for Tymons blood for spoiling their favourite car related entertainment programme, its a bit like one of those dogs that if the owner punches you, the dog bites you as well, it was CLarkson the spoilt it, he has been trying to bail on it with various faux-pas over the last few years, he will get bored of the Amazon thing as well eventually, I suspect he has seen it all and done it all, he is getting old and is a bit knackered.

Clarkson should just write him a cheque, he is worth millions, it is small change, he has admitted being a dick, a couple of grand would be compensation for a split lip, but that is hardly a problem for Clarkson, doubt even the 100 grand is, like me losing £100.

Yes because he highly offensively drove a car in their country with a number plate that says 1982. Which references the year they invaded a British Overseas territory. And then got their ar$es kicked out. I couldn't care less what they think. There are people out there being raped and beheaded. I can deal with a few Argentinians get a tit on about a badly dressed man's registration designation.

....burden of psychological issues.....really??

Look. This concept/viewpoint is so far removed from where I sit I am staggered. But perhaps this is the way of things these days. I'd suggest Oison needs a bloody good hiding.......

Joke. Btw. That last bit.
Just because you may not have experiences of Psychological or physical trauma does not make it less real. Maybe one day you will be stressed I hope not but you could do

As an aside did you know that:

1 in 8 men in the UK were diagnosed with a mental health problem
On average 13 men each day take their life through suicide in the UK
Male suicide rate in 2013 was the highest since 2001
https://uk.movember.com/mens-health/mental-health

None of these guys are wimps
So this chap Oison thinks a big chunk of Clarkson's money will soothe his new found mental fragility........

Sounds like a to me. Just as bad as JC.

If Clarkson punched me in the face I would knock him out not go crying to my mummy. Tymon should grow a pair and be a man unless of course he bats for the other side. Thank fk I was born in the 60's and bought up by non-liberal straight forward people. Boo-hoo, the unfit 53 year old man punched me. Get a life you n***e.
