AJS, sorry for the OT post, but you really have to do something about your apostrophes! I've been biting my tongue on this one for weeks! You have a particular weakness for the possessive "it's". The word "its" only takes an apostrophe when the word appears as a contraction of "it is". If you say "India left to its own devices", no apostrophe! At least, however, you don't go in for apostrophes in plurals, or at least if you do I have been off eating Grammar Police doughnuts or something.

have some cultural sensitivity - surely it's not beyond wit or reason to produce said medicine with no porcine residues?
How much money do you feel is reasonable to pay for such cultural sensitivities?irocfan said:

Do'nuts?
It won't be a militant hegemonising Islamist swarm that will destroy our liberal, secular, progressive Western society. It will be those Krispy Kreme bloody Doughnuts. They'll kill us all, I tell you. You might think you're immune, but you're not.
They'll get you in the end.

For them Assad is a problem. For us less so than IS.
The Syrians made that very point. Assad can kill as many people as he likes and we don't give a toss, but when IS kill people in Paris and we get a bunch of refugees turning up to get away from IS (and Assad), we all go bomb crazy. I suggest that Assad is a problem for us, precisely because his rule helps to produce outfits like IS and also refugees. Previous bombing without a plan, and invading without a plan, also helped to give groups like IS a leg up. Inept western interventions (and there certainly have been those) are only part of the story. People rose up against Assad without help from us. IS have exploited the civil war in Syria to advance their cause. The idea that Assad is "better" than IS is absurd - he is more lethal and more destabilising than they are. The west has cocked up its interventions in the past, and seems likely to do so again in the future, but it needn't always be so. It probably will be, however, as no one seems to have much of a plan to sort things out.

You are getting confused my friend. The so-called Arab spring was encouraged by us, and we supported /encouraged the infamous 'intifada' with our money and arms. When people rose up against Assad, it was a domino effect, and the Assad regime had his back against the wall from the outset when the demonstration turned violent and people started shooting soldiers and policemen. What choice did they have but to try and subdue bandits and mercenaries who hijacked the cause for their own end? These bandits and mercenaries were given money and arms by the likes of us and Saudi Arabia. Assad was a thorn on our side because of his support for Hizbollah, his alliance with Iran, and his stance against Israel. This was a perfect opportunity to get rid of him by proxy. To suggest that Assad is more lethal than ISIS you must be living on another planet. Assad never sent you armed bandits to a concert near you, or massacred civilians in Europe at random, or persecuted all the religious minorities in his country , including Christians. Keep off the juice my friend, it's clouding your judgment! ( Friendly banter of course)
