This is an interesting new organisation. Would anyone here like to deny their aims or make comment?

No. Dr Zuhdi Jasser is a very sincere and vocal reformist. His 'debates' with Anjem Choudary are quite amusing.

My own perception is that he is probably a bit optimistic in that he seems to think large chunks of the Quran, haddiths and 1,400 years of Islamic jurisprudence can be cast aside quite readily.

Interestingly he grew up in a small town in the mid west with a very limited Muslim community, the son of educated Syrian migrants.

Smiler.

These people are truly courageous & the world needs more people like them in every walk of life.

In no way does the following take anything away from them or their goals.

At last, an acknowledgement that there is indeed a problem.

I wonder how well they will be received by the likes of Mohamad Mukadam & the swathes of like-minded imams?

I wonder how well they will be received by the likes of the university ISOC's who can't even stomach others opinions let alone a direct confrontation of their bending of Islam?

I wonder how well they will be received by the MCB?

I'm afraid I'm not optimistic.

I do have a question for them though - how do they explain what is going on with the practising & teaching of Islam?

Does this idiot ever explain why he remains here amongst people and a culture he despises? (or why he isn't prosecuted for the hate he preaches?)

Parasites tend to stick to their host until they finish it off.

I know what you're saying but I just wondered what reasons he gives for remaining? You'd think, if he had the courage of his convictions, he'd have packed his bags and his female human shields before flying off to Syria.

They sound just like the vast majority of the Muslims I have ever met!

Good on them, I hope that their movement flourishes. Sure, in an ideal world I would rather that liberal and thoughtful people like these (and in fact everybody) abandoned religion altogether, but as religion is going to be with us for a while yet, let's have lots more of this sort of religion please.

He did say he would rather live under Islamic State but doesn't actually seem to have done so. I suspect he sees the Islamisation of Britain as a more noble goal than living his dream.

Don't be daft, he really wants to go but of course, it's illegal to travel to Syria to join them. He just can't bring himself to break the law of the country he lives in. He's a lovely chap really......

I suspect it's more to do with h8s perceived duty to Islamise Britain than just benefits scrounging. A good hate preacher will never be out of work.

Though he probably also calculates that he's less likely to get a bullet through him inciting his own brand of radicalism here than elsewhere.

But who knows what goes on in the mind of someone so deranged.

He's an attention seeking dick who gets plenty of it here to make him feel important in the various groups he forms. The fact that he's spent half his life being associated with far too many of those who go on to commit terrorist acts, while all the time being unemployed ( apart from his sideline as being a judge at a sharia court ) and coining in the benefit for doing so, will hopefully come to an end soon in is upcoming trial.

I believe they've withdrawn his passport. He's said in more than one interview that he'd be off to live in an Islamic state in a heartbeat if he could.

He is being prosecuted for membership of banned groups with links to terrorism. I'm not in favour of prosecuting people for hate speech, or any form of speech, not even this dhead. Suppressing speech is something better suited to tyrannies, including Islamic ones, not democracies. If this tosspot had his way, he'd ban all sorts of speech. Let's not adopt any part of his programme.

Yes, you're right. Free speech is a double edged sword sometimes I guess? I'm just intrigued to know why he wouldn't jump at the chance to be amongst his deluded brethren?

There seems to be more Muslims speaking out against extremists on social media of late, which I consider a good thing. (It's only a very small step in the right direction, but a step all the same)

Choudhery says that he would go and live in the ISIS territories if his passport were returned to him. His bail conditions require surrender of his passport and ban him from travelling abroad. If and when he gets his passport back, we will find out if he is lying or sincere in his stated wish to go and live in the Shangri La that is IS.

You did indeed (and that is why my earlier reply dealt only with the issue of prosecution for hate preaching), but e21Mark appeared to have overlooked your earlier reply, as he re posed his question about why Choudhery stays here. I should have prefaced my response with "as already pointed out above".
